All about the fp view in the car. Not the best for times but it's all about the immersion!

Bonnet cam for me. I think it ends up being the most realistic and immersive view, added to which, one has a sense of the car that one doesn't have with when it isn't there.

I have tried out the front cam by smashing in the front of my car to the point that it is obscured from bonnet cam.

Can only go in cockpit for vr so trying to switch to monitors has me flicking back and fore the bonnet cam and behind the windscreen.

Manual gears is essential, when you hear a corner number it's never that far off what gear to be in, just adjust for power of the car your in.

This manual gears thing is actually quite cool. Makes me think about stretches of road more like I would if driving round the dales.
Hammering downshift and looking out for my reverse lights has largely solved my reverse gear problem too.
That is a good way to think about it. As I say too, engine braking and using higher revs to power out of corners is not effective without manual gears. It is part of getting to the faster times.

This was the first racing game I switched to in bonnet/in car but did eventually go back to third person as found fast straights and rectifying mistakes easier.
Decided to go manual & in car (weirdly I like to see the steering wheel/guys hands) for EG new England and it was pretty disasterous. Also apparently retire quits the whole event!
In car view is so much more exciting I've gotta say though.

Phew, that was quite intense. Had built up a pretty good lead going in to the last stage. Half way in I got a rear wheel puncture, tried to be super careful with both steering and throttle while pushing where I could. Let out a sigh of relief when I crossed the finish line without losing too much time.

@salrip I was really gunning it on the last stage, but ended putting the car on its roof, and took a time penalty.

I'm not sure why i pick the Lancia Deathbox in group A, I almost always crash. :D

@TheGreenYamo I had a bit of luck, I rolled about 10 times at a high speed section but ended up on the wheels just fine. Got my puncture soon after that though. An accident rarely comes alone :)

@salrip I don't think I could have gone any faster on the previous stages and I was 25 or so seconds behind, you're clearly a wizard.

I was pretty disappointed with my efforts, I absolutely battered the final stage with probably my best time in New Zealand which was something like 6.12 iirc. However, I made too many stupid mistakes earlier in proceedings and wasted time with some silly crap that should have been avoided.

I have managed to get to masters in single player and I have had to up my game quite a bit and even then I am mid table. Has anyone managed to make much headway in the masters?

Lost a tyre and my headlights in the night stage so had to finish the last portion in pitch dark. Lost 2 tyres at once sliding sideways into a rock early on in the final (long) stage, so called it a day. Ugh.

    @TheGreenYamo cheers!

Any recommendations for which car to pick for someone with no rwd knack? Slow n steady is fine! I think I read something about changing braking centres etc too to shift weight differently?

@mudskipp I think the Datsun and the Opel are good shouts while you're learning RWD.

I agree with Yamo, I think they're the easiest in class (albeit the slowest, but that's probably no coincidence). Under no circumstances take the Lancia or the Renault, they are evil.

    Hi everyone,

Recently got a G29 wheel on my PS4 and I am looking for some recommended settings for Dirt 2.0. I have been back through a few pages on here but canít see any. Looking forward to improving on my rallying!

    @donpawley

Most of the feel is in the calibration I'd watch a few YouTube videos for that as it's easier to understand but I think I've gone with either a rotation of 540 or 720.

After that you want to look at the below settings. This is what I've been using on a G29 wheel.

Steering sensitive 50 and I think that'd determined by another setting as it's greyed out.
    Linearity 0
    Deadzone 0
    Saturation 60
    Throttle Dz 0
    Throttle Sat 100
    Brake Dz 0
    Brake Sat 100
Same for clutch but I don't use it so greyed out
    Handbrake Dz 0
    Handbrake Sat 100
    Soft lock On.

    Vibration settings
    Self alignment torque 90
    Wheel friction 90
    Tyre friction 100
    Suspension 75
Tyre slip and engine 100 but greyed out
Collision 0 if you like to feel the vibration effect after each crash increase it but for me no.
    Soft lock 100
    Steering centre force enabled ON
    Steering centre force 100

I achieved something I haven't done before, that I recall. I got through the middle 2 courses without taking any damage. No repair necessary. How very strange.

I did drive it pretty slowly, my throttle was rarely close to flat out, apart from the odd time where I would twitch and have to correct it in a panic. It was really quite tense, RWD feels more like a survival horror.

Other people did that too?! Funny thing is that at times it flowed really well and fast but I found that I ended up slipping off the track which in Scotland is a problem. Also, punctures but when it worked it was very good.

Next one I think I will take the Datsun 😉

I did promote a few people to admin a while back if someone else would like to create a championship. I think I scared a bunch of people off with the last car/ track selection.

I'll create one. I try to create championships that everyone will enjoy, but it's only guesswork. Maybe I think people enjoy something but in fact everyone hates it.

So I'm doing a little experiment and created an online poll, your participation is appreciated and will affect the next championship (and possibly future ones).

Please don't pick answers based on what you'd think would be best for the league, but strictly how you think you personally would enjoy it most.

    http://www.polljunkie.com/poll/etmsdp/eurogamer-dr2-league-poll

I'll create a new championship in a few days based on the results. Let's see where this goes!

edit: note: this poll website's sliders always start at 1. Of course there won't be single event championships or events with only 1 stage.
