So after reading abit of my rally book I've got an early rally fact. In the 1930s they used to drive long distances to a location then do special driver tests, one of which was a going slow race! Slowest car over a distance without stopping won. |

Registered 5 years agoYea I find these way more engaging than the public ones they put up.
I like that you can check the club site and look at everyone's stage times after too -

Registered 10 years agoI was winning after 4 stages, then put in a time of 6.59 on the last stage but my console crashed again when uploading the results! I was less than a second ahead of the person in second place after the fourth stage and I made a mistake on the final one so I'm guessing I probably would have come second, but I'm getting a bit annoyed at the game for the DNFs. -

Registered 5 years agoCheers KD. Dunno what happened to me in the last stage. finished on two rims!
I've never been this bad at a game I enjoy! I think the number of errors almost make it somehow more interesting -

Registered 15 years agoNR4 should be good. I'd pick the evo for the event.
As for my run on the last event everything was going fine until the last stage. It seems that if I have a spin I can't reset my head and so make even more mistakes. -

Registered 5 years ago@Nitrous Yea I was wondering that about myself. Suddenly become out of rythym with the co driver calls and my road positioning drops off, end up going flying through fences at Square lefts etc -

Registered 4 months agoI've felt the co-driver calls going awry after a few bashes too, is that a thing?
Had a 'mare on the last run, got excited with green times and pushed too hard, quickly realised my talent does not match my ambition! -

I love the constant threat of danger in this game, you know that one concentration slip can be the difference between winning and finishing last. And on some stages even driving down a straight can be dangerous, I always find the speed and constant jumps of Finland to be the worst example of this, I can guarantee I'll end up flying anyone tree at high speed whilst jumping over a crest. -

Registered 4 months agoSo first stage completed on Finland. Not perfect, couple of hairy moments and I wasn't pushing as I've found Finland is tough. But nonetheless as I crossed the finish line I felt good....24 seconds behind Salrip. 24! On a 4 and a bit minute run! I have no idea how I would even get close to that.
I am loving this game though. Dabbled a bit last gen but on the Series X it's gorgeous, and so smooth. Great stuff -

Registered 10 years agoI've really found a good rhythm since I picked the game up again. It actually doesn't feel that fast when I'm driving, feels like I'm braking and taking it more careful but I guess minimising the crashes and mistakes has more of an impact on the final time than taking every corner perfect.
Finland is basically a rollercoaster ride. Great fun when you're in the zone and all goes well!
Still on base ps4, if they would make some sort of vr-edition for ps5 I would be mighty tempted but that probably won't happen? -

Registered 4 months ago@salrip I'd hate to see your times when it feels fast...
I went base PS4 to series X and it's a massive step up, even without a next gen patch. The frame rate improvement alone makes it worthwhile. To my eye there's also visual improvements, ie sunlight dappling through the trees etc.
Actually on second thought, stay where you are - the framerate improvement would probably make you faster! -

Registered 10 years ago@rammy18 I think when it feels fast it often isn't, because then you're driving on the edge of your capability and small and big mistakes are bound to happen.
I am fortunate in the sense that framerates and better looking graphics is something I rarely notice or care about - don't think I've ever thought about the framerate in DR2. And I don't have time to enjoy better looking scenery when going 200km/h through the finnish forests! VR in DR1 really improved my times though, so much easier to know where to place the car in corners and such. -

Registered 5 years agoI'm absolutely terrible on Finland. Anytime the co driver mentions a house I panic.
Was wondering though, the thing that I actually find most difficult is the road surface rather than the jumps at speed (I can always take it slow). Do you guys find it feels very dusty and loose? I even switched to sort tyres hoping to get abit more grip. -
My issue with Finland is that I struggle to keep up with the co driver calls. The fact you're generally going fast doesn't help, but having a million jumps and crests being called out means I occasionally miss out on the sharper turn.
