Survived! I enjoyed that. Was concerned at first I'd struggle with the more powerful car but got a feel for it after a spell. Although I got away with a few scrapes I liked the high damage element, normally in these stages I crash alot and see my car go spinning wildly into the air but doing it this way made it seem alot more grounded. I found the multiple stages in the same local cool too, get a feel for some corners and road sections over the stages. |

Registered 15 years agoI think the Group B may have scared people away, I'm happy as I had 1 stage win against salrip, normal service then resumed and I lost a minute the following 2 stages. -

Registered 10 years agoI'm still keen, but at the moment I'm practising using manual gears so I'm a bit rubbish. My problem isn't the gears as such, but I struggle to listen to the co driver at the same time as the engine. Anyone have any tips to deal with that?
Also, I've bought a steering wheel so will be playing this a lot in the coming months! I decided I couldn't justify a wheel and still use automatic gears... -

Are you using headphones? I didn't find it a problem without but since using them it's opened up a world of engine noises that were previous lost behind the noise of my PS4 fan, so you might find that easier. -

Registered 10 years ago@mudskipp I think it's more the concentration required to listen to both the engine and co driver. Some cars have an obvious red light which flashes on the dashboard when you need to change, which helps a bit. -

Registered 15 years agoIt went quiet for the last set so I've set up a 10 day, 12 stage, hardcore damage but all assists allowed for Finland in Group A. -

Registered 15 years ago@andytheadequate You going without a hud? I would say just use it and use the rev counter. -

Registered 10 years ago@KD yeah, I don't use the HUD normally, but might add it back in. Annoyingly my steering wheel has arrived by my new desk hasn't so I can't use it yet. I temporarily set it up at the dining table and it was amazing, so can't wait until it's all ready. -

Registered 15 years agoI have my wheel on this, fitted under my desk and I built the monitor stand I have now around it, squeaks a little but does the job, tempted to weld it up.

Registered 10 years agoDoes it fold down? I have a fairly small office so don't really have space for a permanent set up unfortunately, hence why I need a desk. Any suggestions on how to position the pedals? I find them slightly awkward to use when sat or a normal chair, would tilting them slightly help? -

Registered 15 years agoIt has hand bolt/screws, base is 1 unit and the bent structure going to the wheel is another part, able to break it down easily.
My chair goes quite low and that frame has a small tilt but not too much, it works but the seat I'm building will be lower. -

Registered 5 years ago@KD Cheers. A longer time one works for me atm, not getting my reliable early morning/baby nap session in anymore so having more days is ideal.
Used all my luck on first two stages and had to do 3 and 4 with one rim! Survived though, was very wary of seeing terminal wheel damage! -

Registered 5 years agoAh man. Terminal damage on very last segment.
Despite the ending and constant tyre explosions I think I prefer Finland with hardcore damage, otherwise I end up flying off too much whereas this way round I pay more attention to the jumps and crests.
Does tyre hardness impact puncture rate? -

Registered 15 years agoNearly killed my car twice and still only half way through, I like the survival aspect.
No idea with the tyres question, makes sense but think its mainly how long the last.
Last update came out for this game last week, no more dlc or fixes. -

Registered 5 years agoHah yea survival is the word. I'm lucky there's no damage to the occupants modelled (I think?) - I kept trying to save my engine/axles by hitting the occasional telegraph pole or tree side on. Pretty sure Phil would be struggling to hold his clip board by this point... -

Registered 15 years agoUnbelievable. I thought I'd have a quick blast to warm up after a few weeks of not playing and the feedback felt wrong. It wasn't until I went into settings and noticed everything was set as default.
I've had to look back on this thread to find my wheel settings. Just a warning for those who might have the same issue.
Edit: GTplanet post seems to confirm its users of Logitech G29 and so probably also the xbox equivalent of the same wheel.

I'm out. 3rd stage, got over confident and went over a jump flat out with an Into 3/4 right so I was mid air heading for the logs.
I'll spend some time tweaking my wheel settings. It felt different from what I remember.
