Anyone else get the nod to Predator? Obvious was the aliens references. I mean, they couldn't have been any clearer. But when Mando was first tracking where the lizard lady went with his thermal imager it made the same sound that the Predator's did. |

Registered 16 years agoI'm loving this so far. Thought the first series was a bit of hit and miss until they ramped it up towards the end, but these two episodes have set a high bar, it feels star wars without relying on the old stuff too much. Though we do get the link to the original films with Baby Yoda (okay, 'The Child'). I think it would be nice to get some more of this long term storytelling from the star wars universe, apparently talking about making the boba fett movie into a series and of course we have the Obi-wan stuff.
Someone mentioned filming during Covid ( previous page, not looking it up), but it must be one of the easiest series to make. Most characters are wearing a mask or CGI. -

Registered 9 years agoI thought this was the boba fett movie made into a show, or likely chunks of it.

Registered 7 years agoAnother brilliant ep. I actually would be quite happy if there was no arc, just week by week what scrapes the two of them get to next. Outside of the original trilogy this is one of the best Star Wars things there is. -

Registered 18 years agoI wouldn't go that far, there have been some questionable practical effects and scenery scattered about, but over all, I'm begining to love SW again. Quite the feat after that deluge of shit.

Registered 17 years agoEnjoyable episode, but again a remarkable lack of story progression. As mentioned by someone earlier you do worry that they're going to have to squeeze the story in to the final few episodes. -

Registered 18 years agoWasn’t that keen on this episode, the quality seems to vary wildly during each episode. Some of the dialog especially, that bit with the broken droid was pants. But then I enjoyed the tail end of the episode immensely. What’s going on with the child, he’s gone from occasional badass with great powers to just being cute and vulnerable. -

Registered 17 years agoI think this season is turning into my favourite show about the joys of being a single parent
And why when someone flies into a canyon do the chasers insist on following them in - just stay topside and strafe at them. -

Exactly, I've always wondered about that!
Also, why does he say "may the force be with you" when he's never heard of it.. -

I don't even see this as a bad thing, it's not like every episode can carry the arc, which is fairly loose at best. He could just look at a map and series done, the end

Registered 9 years agoI think the issue is we have questions, but the show doesn’t seem in a hurry to answer any of them. The series trailer and rumours around the cast haven’t been touched on.
Again, it’s not a problem as such if the shows good but you have to wonder when they are going to have to pick up those threads and in theory the series is a quarter done already.
Still, roll on next Friday. -

Registered 17 years agoI do get the point about the slow story progression, but to be honest I've enjoyed both episodes on their own merits - if the filler can maintain that quality, then they can take all the time they want to finish the story -

Registered 11 years agoI thought the first episode of series 2 was a definite nod to Starship Troopers, where Mando stood there covered in goo after taking down the giant monster like Johnny Rico.
Also a shame the sequence relied on the trope of being eaten by the monster to take it down from the inside. A bit unimaginative.
Enjoying the series so far though. I love that I can say I'm enjoying something set in the Star Wars universe. -

Registered 15 years agoThe lore nerds are whipped up into a frenzy. Yet some of us haven't watched Clone Wars, Rebels et al.
Seems a bit of a disconnect there, but eh. Guess it's in line with Mando's viewpoint. The "....bantha" line annoyed me though, like he's ever been to Tatooine. (probably has in the cartoons no doubt)
Nice to see Starbuck with a comeback though. -

Registered 9 years agoNot sold on the new series. Reminds me of those GTA/ Rockstar story missions - "I'll help advance the story one step if you do this mission for me".
I'm not so well versed in SW lore so not picking up on things but it's spinning its wheels 3 episodes in. -
My only gripe is the the episodes are a bit on the short side...
