I still can't work out when this is set. After Return of the Jedi, after the old republic era? No idea.

Yeah - the Empire is on the run, and the rebel alliance have rebranded themselves.

I’m enjoying that this isn’t trying to be Lost/Game of Thrones with denser intertwined story and character arcs. I
Much prefer its Littlest Hobo/A-Team approach of weekly problem solving with the added depth of following a linearly progressive plot.

This was best episode of S2 so far in our opinion, (my seven year old and I have watched every episode since chapter one together; I treasure the series for giving us something to look forward to each week and be excited about with together; helps she loves Rebels and Clone Wars too)

The Mandalore... just doubled in size in a few moments of exposition and the entire premise of Mando’s ethos and resulting journey shaken to its core. I just ups get doesn’t get all mopey and overly introspective going forward

Great seeing Harry Bosch turn up - and that was Bosch doing Imperial cosplay; Welliver wasn’t even playing The Man In Black (overarching post arc joined together)

Got a feeling we don't get to see Ashoka nextg episode, chances of getting side tracked are 100%

I knew it was set after Return of the Jedi when we started watching Season 1, I remember my girlfriend wanting to know where on the timeline of the 9 movies this takes place. For the life of me, I can't recall what I based that on.

I understand it's set between rotj and tfa.

I believe it's set between Caravan of Courage and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor.

The one bit I really enjoyed about series one was when The Helmed One walked in on a bunch of scared storm troopers in hiding.

That one scene made me think it must be after RotJ and that there would be a cool "the empire are the insurgents" vibe. Then the writer of Young Hercules took over.

Cara Dune mentioned it being after the battle of Endor. The Empire is gone by the time of TFA.

I'm not sure how many people around here have seen the Clone Wars (really, do) or Rebels (hmm...) but I was super excited by seeing Bo Katan.

But then... her plan is kind of huge right? If the show decides to follow it then it'd be a really big change of pace?

Oh and Ashoka is by far my favourite force user and I'm far too excited to see her here.

@xandoodle It will be interesting how they handle these characters. Tano, as far as I recall, never rejoined the Jedi Order. But she was helping Sabine Wren in her search for Ezra Bridger at the end of Rebels.

So will Din accept her as the one to look after the Child?

I would be cool letting Bryce Dallas Howard direct a Star Wars movie at this point. Her two episodes have been my favourites.

Haven't seen any of season 2 yet, but wasn't she responsible for that dodgy Star Trek 'primitive planet filler episode' knock-off? Thought that was the weakest one in the first series.

Yeah her one in the first season was definitely the weakest. This one's pretty good though.

To me, the episode last season where he has to help out the prospective bounty hunter has been the worst episode.

Maybe the child is actually Yoda and Din is actually the first Mandalore, in the final episode the Razorcrest encounters an anomaly during hyperjump dumping them 900 years in the past. Almost like an anti Star trek discovery plot

The child will end up being evil and killing everything.

Except it won't, because it would harm merchandise sales.

Turns out Mandalore is a mistranslation of Burnham

Might explain why they never remove the face coverings. Forces them to learn how to convey meaningful emotions.

Weren't there also some stormtrooper helmets on spikes around town? And some dialog about imperial credits?

@AcidSnake Was that on Tatooine or Nevarro? I think it was Tatooine, and would have been in Mos Eisley, a more wretched hive of villainy and scum. Clearly, free of Jabba’s oppressive regime and the fall of Palpatine, the local garrison got hit hard. Ties in with episode 1 of series two’s rampant lawlessness.

Exactly. Also, I'm not sure the Child character is capable of the depth of expression required to turn the story into a study of his journey to the dark side. He's very much a two-dimensional MacGuffin - so either good or bad - and the story has established he's good.

The writers are definitely doing their best to make the audience forget he has force powers though. He's been completely helpless so far this series - despite many situations where his powers would have been invaluable - presumably so they can once again lean on his powers as a silver bullet to resolve a storyline in a later episode.

I am sure there are going to be some Dark Side shenanigans with the Child. There have been too many cases of violence where they cut to the Child's face, and the egg-eating is of a piece with it.
