It's on the BBC News front page, so it felt appropriate to start a new thread.

Fucking HATE YouTube "celebrities" and all these corporate shill social media "influencers". Especially gaming related. What a wasteful and depressing endeavor.

Of course, the real hate is for their audience and the real real hate is my jealousy that there's no job interviews, quality control, very lax standards, lack of talent etc and yet they make millions.... Mainly because through being advertising shills.

BBC News site seemed to go horribly clickbaity around 12 months or so ago. No idea why a story like this makes it on there at all, let alone onto the front page.

Hoping to hell we grow out of this whole "streamer" and "influencer" thing soon. Sony reprogramming the "share" button on the Dualshock 4 to deliver a fatal electric shock when pressed would be a good start.

Because, like it or not, these people actually matter to a massive section of society.

The new era of celebrities are just the same as the old era celebrities. I think the only (slight) difference is that they usually have a much flimsier safety net between their persona and their personal life.

There was a guy in my office waxing lyrically about how "influencers" are completely changing the game and yadda yadda yaaaahhh...

When pressed on it he arrived at the same conclusion as I. It's a bunch of mostly narcissistic people working their asses off and lying for money. So, nothing new under the sun really.

I'm even past thinking they're annoying. They just are. Much like Kate Moss or Jony Depp

The worst part of youtubers splitting up is the arguments on who gets the ikea kallax shelves

This is far less serious than that time BBC announced Ed the Duck and Andy Crane were breaking up.

And in the same week we found out what Taylor Swifts political views were. Hopefully the rest of the week is quiet as I'm not sure I can take another bomb shell.

She's just a shill of the deep state. She needs a long, hard red-pilling. In the ass.

Just had a word with my boss and he's let me go home early today after hearing the news. He had to open a bottle of scotch himself just to calm his nerves but he's obviously stronger than I am as I can't stay there while all this is going on. How the fuck am I supposed to be able to concentrate when I know Jacks out there, in his mansion. Probably feeling a bit sad about him and his girlfriend breaking up a few months back.

This is Robert Pattison and Kristen Stewart all over again.

Reading stuff like that, and how it actually makes the news, makes me sort of want to invite the planet out for a drive in my car, remove it's seatbelt and drive into a wall.

We can all laugh along at all the stupid young people (and why not, it's their fault for being young), but Swifty going blue has made for a significant voter registration uptake.

So, there's that. We can now argue that it's because young people are stupid or old people can't connect to a jaded generation of voters

Aren't influencers just another way of getting stupid people to spend money on things they don't need or even want?

The timing is terrible, what with it being Mental Health awareness day and everything.

Thoughts and prayer to everyone on the forum effected.
