@JamboWayOh IGI was first person. A potentially great game ruined by a shit save system.

I feel like there was a 3rd person element to it, or was that when you climbed ladders. I remember the game being bastard hard. Tbf a lot of games in that era were difficult. Like Kingpin. That game was fucking difficult. It was my first occurrence of save scumming.

Yeah, I think it went 3rd person when you climbed ladders and maybe ziplined.

    @JamboWayOh

Oh god that climactic encounter with Admiral Radec (or something) was horrible even on normal difficulty. Took me countless tries and I almost gave up before finally cracking it.

And then weirdly Killzone 3 on normal was just ridiculously easy. I think they rubber banded a bit hard on that one.

Wasn't it a 3rd person game? If that's the case Hidden and Dangerous was also a bloody difficult game. Different times they were.
Hidden and Dangerous was hard because it was littered with game breaking bugs.

I do remember the final room in Black being so incredibly annoying.

Especially annoying because you have slodged through the whole game, in which the last few levels were simply more hard than fun, and then that damn final room is the only thing between you and the ending. And it's near impossible.

I have actually given up on it. I never give up on games when I'm that close to finishing them, but the umpteenth death from rocket launcher guys hidden in the catways was just too much.

Shit, that last boss was something else.
By the time KZ2 came round I had been FPSing since Wolf3D, always on Normal and for the first time I thought to myself I''ll just start on hard, I must be good enough at these things by now. Holy shit did that last boss put me in my place! I spent as much time on him as I did on the entire rest of the game and I have never started on Hard again.

That said I'll occasionally go back to a game where I can and whack the difficulty up. I've beaten FEAR, Gears 1 and Doom 2016 on the top difficulties and they still weren't as hard as KZ2.

I played through Borderlands solo and even managed to defeat Crawmerax The Invincible, the raid boss from the General Knoxx DLC, on my own. Then I expected to be able to do the same with the Borderlands 2 raid bosses, starting with Terramorphous. Nope.

@hedben2013 Yeah, those Borderlands 2 raid bosses are a nightmare, even with 4 well-geared people.

Then I remember the Overpower Level gauntlets they added in the proving ground DLC. Getting through the final level of that with just two players was an absolute nightmare. We did it in the end, using a map bug to shortcut almost all of the way to the final boss (which was still an utter nightmare to take down).

I found KZ2 absolutely rock solid on Normal, unbelievably difficult. The masses of input lag and bullet sponge enemies didn't help. Still have fond memories overall though.

Modern Warfare 2 on Veteran was tough, the Favela level in particular was horrible, and Black Ops 1 was also really challenging, although both are quite cheap, all instant deaths.

In terms of the absolute hardest, I have to go with Arma or Operation Flashpoint, both are absolutely nails, and IGI is super tough too.

Killing Time on the 3DO was rather tricky. Not helped by the dodgy animations though.

Well done for that. I tried that so many times with time and trying the solo cheese-fest before giving up.

Crawmerax was a bastard. His little children got me, even if it went to the 'safe-ish' area.
