AKA, lets see just how badly I've wasted my money of tech that is "less than ideal".

Here we go... First up to bat is BF V has RT enabled.

Reddit says the word 'tanking'... A LOT...

This is where you can download the update to Windows 10

Well, it's now enabled in teh drivers, DX12, and BF V so 'yes'...

But it looks like some code optimisation (or appropriately powerful hardware) is required... I'm on a 1440 ultrawide so I'm not expecting 100 fps :S

Tomb Raider has it too no>?

So exactly as most people thought, very pretty when used right but this generation are not really powerful enough. As the above article then, it is the new Physx.

There's a lot going on to be fair, AND there's a lot of options to tune it to meet your frame rate target that may not have been implemented yet.

I didn't quite realise differences it will make to the look of the games.

metro exodus makes better use of it imo. it does look good but personally i can't go back to 1080p to maintain 60fps. the tech is nice, maybe in a few gens time.

thing is you get the perf hit even on maps that aren't using the reflections. crazy, and i'm wondering if people shelling out big bucks really want to drop screen resolution, and even then get wonky performance. the cards are still good but i think rtx features will be little more than a curiosity that owners will try then turn off.

    Definitely making me re-think.

Currently a 4k freesync monitor and an AMD card (even vega 56/64) seems a lot more palatable next year for the family PC.

I can only hope that there's still a ton of work to optimise this...

As an owner of RTX, I feel inclined to enable it whenever its an option, other wise I'd feel like I've wasted my money but that performance hit is pretty fucking mental!
