What must a new console release game-wise for you to be content with it? Page 2

New consoles tend to mostly suck from the player's point of view for the first 18-24 months or so. You might get one or two carefully prepared launch titles that are decent, but mostly you end up with a bunch of hastily cobbled together "template" AAA titles, or stuff that's been hastily ported from the last gen.

The really decent games, in terms of the properly-made AAAs or the solid AAs and indies, usually only start to come through the pipeline at around the 2 year point.
But unlike earlier gen's, most AAA blockbusters and indies alike are now available on PC so why bother tying yourself to a console (Nintendo aside but then personally I'm not big into their games).

RDR2 is the only current game I feel I'm missing out on right now, and it'll end up on PC eventually just like GTA5 did.

What I really look for is a million ports of Wii U games that I've already played. Yes siree, guaranteed success.

I'm generally not fussed about RPGs and more complex games on a new console. Give me simple arcadey games that showcase the new graphics and give you something fun to play with mates like racers, fighting games, perhaps a FPS or third person action game.

I loved the PS2 launch window. I got SSX, Tekken Tag Tournament and Timesplitters and they kept me going for months.

Would love a big JRPG but unsure how likely that would be. Only got two consoles on launch, namely PS4 and Switch and having Zelda as a launch title was fucking unreal. Not sure if it qualifies as a JRPG, I suspect not but either way something huge like that would always be welcome.

PS4 launch in retrospect was a bit poo with titles, still gone on to be one of the best consoles I have ever owned though to be fair.

An open world game padded out with fetch quests. 70 hours of gameplay, which is 58 hours of just getting to the missions.

A cooling system developed in partnership with Slush Puppy. A little USB adaptor to pour your own. Basically a Mr Frosty with 24gb GDDR5 ram.
