Nah honestly, I'll probably just do something like "Is this game dead/dumb/meta bullshit/no competition? Dead game, retire".

Update 25/11/19
Completed Horizon Zero Dawn. Some of the fights with the big robot dinosaurs were brilliant, but I said before that I kind of wished I was back to exploring in Breath of the Wild again.
...so I re-bought Breath of the Wild + DLC to go through the DLC campaign.
Currently playing through the Shadow of the Colossus remaster (three colossi to go). I remember last playing that on a chugging PS2 on a 14 inch portable telly. The remaster is stunning, what a beautiful and unique game.
I'm also dabbling with The Witcher 3 again on PC. The PC specs are ageing but good enough to get 1080p and 60fps in optimal conditions - it looks rough on the huge monitor I have but a lot better on the smaller iPad screen when playing through the Steam Link app. I was already 50 hours in and it saves me buying it on Switch.
I've written Ballistic NG off as a lovely Wipeout 3 clone but with monstrous difficulty spikes.
Those will keep me busy until the end of the challenge. I'll probably finish up with two ducks still outstanding because there's not way I'll finish off The Witcher 3 in the next month.

NB I had my own challenge to not pay money for games this year and to only go through backlog and use credit from Christmas and Birthdays. That challenge failed in September with £11.99 spent on Shadow of the Colossus, then another £40 on Breath of the Wild + DLC.

What about if I buy a game, but pretty quickly discover that I hate it and couldn't bear the slog of actually finishing it. Can I formally abandon it freeing up the slot, or will it sit there shaming me for the rest of the year?

1) Destiny 2 (Completed single player campaign)
2) Pokemon Lets Go (goal complete main game/gyms)
3) BattleTech Flashpoint DLC (not sure on criteria yet)
4) Torna DLC (finish main story assuming I get it for Christmas!)

As usual I am not including FIFA as it’s not completable, I just duck in and out now and then. But I WILL include PES this year given I keep buying it and never really playing it. -

Count me in! -
I'm just not going to buy any games at all in 2019. I must have about 800 I still need to play, about 6000 if I count the games I want to play through an emulator.
Do I win? -
I do want to buy the Prey DLC though, Yakuza Kiwami 2, Tetris Effect, the Persona games I missed, the JRPGs I missed last gen, and...
I'm going to fail. -
My list :
1. Diablo. But I've played over 100 hours already, so could class as "done" though I'll probably put another couple of hundred hours in.
2. Oxenfree. Finish it
3. Okami: Finish it
4. Free
5. Free. -
Sounds like a plan! Got 6 games 'on the go' at the moment, but could probably trim that down in time
Got a SNES classic for my birthday recently too (playing through Earthbound at the moment mostly), probably count the SNES as a single slot? (Think that's how we treated compilations in the 10 games thing)
Count me in, my plan for next year was to keep the backlog as light as possible -

Registered 15 years agoI’m effectively going to use this challenge as an extra push to ‘attack the backlog’ and therefore the titles I am looking at starting with are all XB1 related and are:-
1) Assassins Creed: Odyssey (finish)
2) DOOM (finish)
3) Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (finish)
4) Alien Isolation (finish) - had this on the backlog for YEARS
5) The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (finish) - Picked up the GOTY but have never touched it.... -

Despite not taking part in 2018 I have enjoyed lurking in the thread, and it made me consider/wince at my purchases.
I've more time to play games in 2019 but less cash to spunk. -
I don't think I understand. People are nominating games on their list that they seem to own already. Surely only games you buy in 2019 go on the list?
