Does going to the doctor and having your pants down while he gropes your nuts count as working ? If so count me in.

I'm in the office today. Also Thursday and Friday. Absolutely deserted - I'm the only person on my bit of the floor. I'll be using today to catch up on my filing, which is always one of those tasks I put off. For Thursday and Friday... I may well sneak in the Switch, as I suspect I don't have three days worth of filing to catch up on.

Also in the office a week today (New Year's Eve), but quite a few others due back in the office then, so may feel more like a normal working day.

We usually have to have a few pints at lunchtime before this happens but... Sure why not, it's Christmas :S

In for the morning sadly but out by 12.30 hopefully. fuck doing any work though.

Always baffled why companies treat Christmas Eve as a semi workday, nobody does anything and it just an utter waste of 3-4 hours when we've all got shit to do.

Well it used to be a potentially shit day to work, as if something does happen you're 'on the hook' to fix it right over Christmas if necessary.

The 'reward' for taking the risk, is you have a late fry-up at the local cafe to the office, and a wet lunch until 2-ish while the family gets things set up at home.

I did last year, but the building is closed for some reason this year. No idea why.

I'm in the spare bed at my sister-in-law's where we've come for Christmas. Laptop open and Zendesk periodically refreshing. I think that counts as working.

In a satellite office as the trains are manged up. It's empty. I'm sitting here, answering the occasional email, whilst watching The Office on my phone.

At what point do I give up the idea of working?

It's a joke, tbh. There's a change freeze, so nothing can actually happen; all the PM's are contractors, who get kicked out for two weeks - so there's nobody telling you something happening is on the critical path - and all the projects drop their funding anyway, so you can't even pretend that something needs to happen.

So basically anyone who is here is just waiting for the email telling them to fuck off home.

Also, I've only just bothered to get in.

It's the best fucking working day of the year. Why would I not be at work?

I was on holiday last week. Back in today, only one in the office.

Listening to a couple of audios and then have to do a pointless assessment.

I have to be here until 13:45, as I am the only one to set the alarm and my manager will definitely check I havenít taken the piss and gone early next week.

    Yay.

Our work did the right thing and told everyone they could have a free extra days holiday today. Good on them for realising everyone would just have pretended to work from home otherwise

Yup. I'm in the office. Been old 'officially' it's got to be open until 5. Merry fucking Christmas. I'll be doing a bit of work this morning, playing command and conquer until dinner at 2 then I'm out the fucking door at 3.

I had a stay of execution last week, normally we're open but another one of our offices was closing today so they brought all the offices in line. Pretty sure with the amount of holidays booked that it would have been deserted anyway, and the real reason is that its not cost effective to keep the lights on! :)

Still, I hope those that booked it got it reimbursed.

I always try and work the 3 days around Christmas as there is sod all to do and London is as bearable as it gets for the entire year as it's so quiet. Have just had a sneaky check on my 'early' train home though...

    Train 12:18 - delayed
Delayed - expected London Bridge [LBG]
    4
    Chatham [CTM]
    13:31 - delayed
    Delayed - expected 1h 13m

Thameslink service from London Blackfriars to Rainham (Kent) show calling points
Delayed ó This service may be delayed

    Lovely...

Company owner is literally scrooge and one of these workaholic types who just treats it as a normal day. Will be here till 5 I reckon.

I could have booked the lot off as holiday but my boss has basically taken the whole of December off, leaving only me to manage who is left in the office. My boss is a cunt, talk about setting an example.

Jokes on him though, as if he actually thinks dmforcing you to be there means he's getting productivity or value for the pay he has to give you, he's got it all wrong.

Let him make you stay, long lunch mate

I feel more sorry for my poor Mother who having retired from teaching and getting a little bored, took a part time role at NEXT.

They are making her come in at 3:30am on Boxing Day with no extra pay.

Anyone getting up to go to NEXT at 5am on Boxing Day needs to give their fucking head a wobble.

In the office, actually trying to get some stuff done.

Live alone, recently moved to new city, so no friends, I would rather be here than sitting at home. Supposed to be in London to meet people, but come down with a stinking cold which means I am not able to make the 2 hour bike ride.

Also being a contractor I charge by the hour, I am trying to get as many hours as I can in over the period.

I came in early so that I can can leave early anyway. I would be here till half 5 otherwise.
