New thread for the 2019 challenge. Creating it now as I've got a bit on this week so will no doubt forget otherwise!

After three years of getting close to 40, only managed 30 or so this year, albeit there were two games in there that were in the 80-100 hour region.

Hopefully after Jan I am forever done with industry exams so can have a proper crack!

This year’s showing has been mediocre at best for me. I mostly blame Red Dead, which has occupied all my gaming time for two months. I should get it finished in the first few days of 2019 so can get back to ploughing through the backlog.

I made a good start to 2018 and was broadly on-track until May or so. Then I started playing some huge JRPGs and strategy games and bogged down horribly. Ended up falling massively short. Not optimistic about 2019. Most of the games I'm looking forward to have pretty huge play-times.

I managed 19 games in 2018 which I was pleased with as there were a few Fire Emblems in there along with Pokémon Let's Go and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, all of which were 50+ hour long games.

This year I'll aim for 20 even though Animal Crossing will no doubt eat up a lot of my gaming time once that's released.

I had my worst year, currently only on 24, although that does include 4 Yakuza games and a few long JRPG/VNs. Played less shorter games it seems and a lot of time trying to finish off Last Remant (which I still hope to do) and a few open world games like Horizon and God of War... I usually get mid30s IIRC...

I will be in for it again next year though...

My total was 13 last year (2018) between completions and spending a lot of time on endless games. I've given up Splatoon so that should allow me to play a lot more short indie games. I think 20 games is doable next year.

#1 Shadow of the Tomb Raider: 7

My first entry of this year. Deliberately put off the last couple of hours until today so I could log it to this year. Decent gameplay (improved on the last pair of games) but let down by horrible writing.

Watcha chaps. I'm in, over last 2 years I have not even hit 40 combined but maybe this is my year!!
My main goal will be hitting the backlog with a smattering of new titles, first one being REmake 2.
Back to task in hand I completed the sublime What remains of EF yesterday, so will start something new later or pick one from the unfinished pile ;)

After completing this two years in a row, last year I only managed to hit 35 games.

I didn't really play less than the previous years, I think... but many games were abandoned before completion. Also too much Destiny 2.

First game for this year is Yasokyoku, just started it today. I'm also very close to finishing Ms. Splosion Man on the Switch.

Backlog clearing is the name of the game this year.

1 Miitopia, 3DS. Fun simple charming rpg lite. Took over 40 hours to complete, but really enjoyed it. 8/10.
2 Book of Demons, PC. Decent turned based diablo like with a card mechanic. Only worth getting in a sale. 7/10.

    Final stats for last year:

    Completed: 31
    PS4: 24
    PSVita: 4
    Switch: 2
    3DS: 1
    Xbox One: 0

    9 Platinums in that, superb.

Already nearly finished 2 Games this year, have actually completed Far Cry 5 but want to do the DLC first before I consider it done. Really want to work through the backlog this year, to be fair in terms of confirmed 2019 releases there aren't many I'm actually overly interested in.

#1 - Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon (PS4) Platinum

Wahey! And we're off. Easily the worst in the trilogy but still great.

Still working on Far Cry 5 DLC, and the Persona 5 rhythm game but then fancy a JRPG. Tales of Vesperia I want badly but feel like I should try and finally finish Kingdom Hearts considering the third is out this month and I still haven't completed even the first.

I wouod count Late Shift but only if I got the good ending ;). I played it a few times but failed to so never listed it... I tried to get a headstart yesterday with Beeswing but hit a bug so will have to restart and turbo through and hope I can get past it.... I ended up with a lowest ever total of 24 for 2018 (I barely played anything for last two weeks of year though)

My stats for last year are:

    PS4 - 19
    WiiU - 1
    Vita - 4

I didn't cheat and count any episodes or dlc as separate entries (although a few like Walking Dead TFS which got cancelled and restarted for this year will get to be a new entry even though half of it got done last year). If I had 'cheated' my number would be 35 or 37 ( as I didn't put Overcooked 2 DLC packs at all until I had three starred minimum every level)

I didn't really post in the thread much last year but did get 32 games finished in 2018 which I was quite happy with. I'd be glad if I got that done again this year to be honest; I found by the end of last year I was choosing games to play based on being able to get them finished quickly and add them to the list rather than necessarily being games I wanted to play! So this year I'm still going to try and clear as much as possible of the backlog but maybe relax a bit on going for a huge target.

    1. God of War (PS4) (2/1/19) (9/10)

Most of it was finished last year but I finished the story and not sure if I will do too much sidequesting from here (did all of the character quests I encountered but not all the lootathons). I enjoyed the setting and plot, although the controls could be clunky at times. It was an enjoyable game, but not my GOTY for last year (hello, 428). Twas pretty too (base PS4).

    Roll on the next 51..

    #1 - 02/01 - Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon (PS4) Platinum
    #2 - 04/01 - Far Cry 5 (PS4)

Very enjoyable, not as good as 3 or 4 as they removed the crafting and level up systems for a "challenge" system to improve stats which made half the weapons etc redundant pretty quickly. Also like Spiderman which DLC I completed recently, reminded me why DLC is pretty shite and pointless.

Awaiting Tales of Vesperia next weekend so looking for something short to blitz in between.

    #01 05/01: Red Dead Redemption 2 (XO) - 10/10

An absurd achievement, and an absolute masterpiece.

    #2 - 04/01 - Far Cry 5 (PS4)
    #3 - 05/01 - Blackwood Crossing (PS4) Platinum

Looked for something short but that was very short! But also enjoyable and the ending got me right in the plums.

Kin el three platinums and only got two trophies left on the Persona 5 one so that should be 5 completions by tomorrow...wahey!

#1 Shadow of the Tomb Raider: 7
#2 Battletech: Flashpoint (Career Mode): 9.5

Counting this as a separate completion from the main game, because the Flashpoint expansion in career mode presents a very different - and much harder - experience. Basically, though, it's as brilliant as ever.

    #1 Kirby Star Allies 05/01

It's a Kirby game! Completed story mode, found every big switch and unlocked every extra world, found every hidden jigsaw piece and finished all the art pieces.

    Such a charming, fun game, 8/10 :)
