    #32 Assemble With Care
Quite a short little narrative that involves you manually dissassembling 3d broken objects, replacing or adding new parts and then reassembing them. It's bookmarked by short moments of audio/text story. I didn't find the story particularly interesting (it wasn't bad either, it was passable) but the core mechanic of exploring the repairwork with the characters providing context for their importance was compelling.

I'd love to see this idea expanded into something that wasn't quite as basic, the most complex repair was also the most interesting (a couple of them involve some light puzzle elements). Shame it caps well under a couple of hours and doesn't aim for anything with even a little complexity. 6/10

    #33 Mini Motorways
I think I prefer Mini Metro, but this is a competent sequel that adds a few extra wrinkles into the formula. 7/10

    #34 Donut County
I was honestly hoping for a little more of a game from this one. I enjoyed the playbox style levels and the story was cute and funny but there wasn't really any added depth to the mechanics.

Even just a scored mode would be a nice expansion on the "drop everything down a hole" gameplay. 7/10

@Blackmarsh63 Yes. It's an incredibly good game. Best Soulslike since Bloodborne (beats Dark Souls 3 and shits all over Sekiro). PC version is hard on the hardware, but otherwise good. Gather the PS4 version has a few problems, but XB1 and PC should be ok.

I may get lynched for this but I really liked this one. I know that in lists of best Castlevania games it doesn't score well and criticism is justified but I prefer it to the first game.

Granted, I wouldn't have been able to get through it quickly without following a walkthrough as the ridiculous translation and stupid NPC comments don't help at all. The bosses are too easy, that's fair to say. I liked the move to the RPG influences and non linear progression that now defines a genre.

Atmosphere was great, I usually try to play horror games this time of year, by which I mean the ones with jump scares or disturbing content, this still fits the Halloween horror game theme for the classic, camp horror film influences the series drew on.

I will continue onwards with the series. Although I also feel compelled to play a proper immersive, 'scary' horror title too. Options include, but aren't limited to: RE 7, Evil Within 2, the Amnesia collection or finishing Condemned. I'll see what happens on that front.

The branching paths and character selection were nice touches. It was a mixed bag on boss difficulty. There's a common opinion that this was the best of the original trilogy, I personally prefer the second. Still, I enjoyed playing it.

Damn good platformer, very reminiscent of Donkey Kong Country. The Impossible Lair is very tough but I somehow managed to scrape through finishing it on the seventh attempt!

I have a real soft spot for SNES graphics. The sprites in this are quite ugly but I love the Mode 7 stuff with rotating backgrounds. I also love the parallax effects. Gameplay wise it was mostly too easy until the last third or so where I was overly abusing the quick save feature. I can see that if I'd owned this on the SNES I would have kept plugging away at this for weeks on end. I liked the feeling of it being a bit of a remix of previous games.

I still have the original two GameBoy games (Castlevania Adventure is horrible to play, I still own the original cartridge), Megadrive one and Kid Dracula to play. I think I'll be revisiting SoTN and having a proper go at finishing it in the coming months.

Beating this has meant a lot to me. It was one of the first GameBoy titles I owned as a kid when the machine was first released in the UK. I could never get past the upwards scrolling section of the third stage where the spikes follow you up the screen. This had a lot to do with the dire framerate, sluggish controls and pixel perfect nature of the jumping, all of which are retained in the emulation. Again, the save state feature and my abuse of it has made it possible for me to beat the game.

Very much the worst of the games in this package I've played so far. I suspect it will still be the worst of all when I've finished the others too. It's a terrible game but it isn't without some degree of charm. It looks ugly, it plays badly and yet the opening stages have music I quite like and an atmosphere I enjoy. Maybe it's just nostalgia? Onwards to the sequel.

One of my childhood favorites. Still an absolute gem. While I remember the early stages pretty well I had to google some of the dungeons cause I wasn't able to see the cracks in the walls. I wasn't a fan of the art style at first but it grew on me. I'll definitely play it again and try to get the boomerang and secret ending.

This felt a lot more like a proper Castlevania game than the previous GB title, well, more like the Castlevania games that had preceded it rather than the SoTN direction they took. I enjoyed this a lot more than the previous GB one, it didn't have the slowdown and controls were quite responsive. It also had the thrown weapons (well, two of them) of the NES/SNES titles.

I never really got the appeal of the Megadrive in its day. I had gone from a C64 to Amiga and SNES, the MD stuff all looked quite samey to me (emulation and side by side comparison of some titles has me now appreciating some of the machine's merits). I wasn't really expecting much from this, a kind of bog standard reworking of the previous games with new 16 bit graphics (turns out that's what the SNES version is). Aside from the SNES' clever use of mode 7 for part of one level on the game in this package, they didn't really make use of the hardware.

It seemed to me that they were doing some really clever stuff with the available resources in Bloodlines, particularly noteworthy were a rotating spiral staircase that had 3D depth, a level with mirrors that offset the scenery requiring a very measured approach to jumping and avoiding enemies and a fight on top of a tower that was rotating on its vertical axis and simulated depth. It was all pretty impressive for me really as someone with minimal exposure to MD games (I have a load of platforms covered on Retropie but tend to ignore mostly ignore the MD stuff, that's going to change).

This seemed a nice mix of the familiar and new compared to the SNES offering.

@minky-kong I've been playing it a little recently and been frustrated by some of the need to die first before figuring out a solution. In some cases you have only a couple of seconds to take in a new room as you're being chased and there's a lot of luck in whether you went to the right spot. I'm only about half way in at best I think.

edit: That bullshit room where you go under the floorboards, climb out, throw the monkey etc. Fuck that. Seriously. Fuck. Right. Off. I'm getting sick of it. I try sneaking after throwing the first monkey left, get to the cluster of toys near the chest of drawers, knock a monkey over and get killed. Retry, grab the monkey, throw it left, boss ignores monkey and grabs me. Respawn, successfully lob monkey left, get to chest of drawers, boss grabs me. Exit game and rant here. I don't think I can be arsed with this level of bullshit.

Yeah, Little Nightmares was a flawed experience with a lot of repeated deaths. The atmosphere was nice though. I tried to go back into the DLC last week and quickly got frustrated and moved onto Town of Light instead.

Game 7 Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 Xbox one X

Some beautiful realistic graphics marred by plent of screen tearing. The campaign was brief lasting around 5 hours. Quite a bit of variety in the missions and less bombastic than some of the other games in the series. The gunplay is the best in the series, guns feel powerful and the control tight. Look forward to the sequel

    7/10

Finally sat down this month and played it, completing it a year after it came out. Shouldn't have waited so long, absolutely brilliant and Arthur Morgan was a superbly written protagonist. Got 80% complete after 35 hours (although any time spent in the map I dont think counts).

Planning to try and smash The Outer Worlds between tomorrow and when Death Stranding comes out...

Another PSN game I've had for years. I'd tried playing it before, but I couldn't get the controls or what I was meant to do. Anyway, I decided to have another go and just Skywalker it, feeling my way into the game. Well, it finally made sense and I finished it. It's very short though. 5/10

Sequel (with different cast)to Death Mark. Japanese Horror adventure/VN. Same style of gameplay as DM but less backtracking and a little more logical puzzles. Completed good ending on one route (there are branches but not VN style so don't consider needing them all done for completion). Started this for Halloween game and took about 15 hours or so (inte tonally getting the bad endings I could). Got stuck on a few puzzles for a bit but pretty manageable difficulty with friendly retry options for death moments. Nice and atnospheric with some very nice (painted style) art. Minimally voced inoffe sively enough in Japanese with suitable enough music. Sound effects are pretty fitting. Slow burn Japanese style horror with some gorier death scenes if you destroy instead of purify spirits. Story is quite fun and managed a few unspotted twists and turns. The spirits being loosely based on Japanese fairy tales works quite well too. Localisation seems mostly good but with Th usual Aksys proviso of too many leftover typos/small errors. Not enough to damage the writing really, just need a other pass and I have seen a lot worse.

Next to finish Steins;Gate LBP or the other routes on Psychedelic of Black Butterfly (competed 2 of them). Also playing YU-NO on Switch.

    #27 - Guacamelee!

Decent little Metroidvania, loved the art style and the combat although the difficulty did spike towards the end. May end up picking the sequel up at some stage off the back of this as it was good fun overall.

Not going to get anywhere near my last years total of 37 games done, getting a new job will do that I suppose :)

Its a decent enough podcast game to idly click by bit it loses its appeal after a while. The constant need to cook and eat stuff got a bit annoying and it doesn't have the same charm as Stardew Valley or the creative wealth of stuff to do like Minecraft. Still it has something about out it that kept me returning. I unlocked half of the skills and the islands and I don't think there is an endgame mode so that's enough of it for me.
