I'd played it years back on PS4 but decided to play again. I still hate the flooded basement bit and running around outside getting lost. I spent more time using the sprint button than crouching and hiding like I did the first time around. I still rate it as a good experience despite its flaws.

More of the same really. Some even more!?! messed up stuff than the main game. There wasn't as much repetition of set pieces due to failure as I experienced in the main game. I enjoyed it.

It's taken years (7?) on and off with this. Several restarts and abandonments en route. It really hasn't aged well, even when I first tried playing it felt old. There seems to be a lot of love for it but I feel it's rather overrated. That's not to say it's terrible, far from it, it's slightly better than mediocre. Then again I'm judging this after having played the likes of Outlast. Anyhow, it's clunky and unwieldy but the story is quite good for what it is. I'd actually welcome a remake on decent tech.

It's Tetris, but with electronic music and visuals that sometimes make it difficult to actually see the play area. It's alright in VR but a bit of a gimmick that I gave up using fairly quickly.

It was ok, were Rare and MS trying to move in to Luigi's Mansion territory? The camera could be a bit frustrating at times but it played well enough for what it was. The enemies had their own charms as per expectations of Rare, farty zombies are a winner with me. I'm probably going to go back and get some of the other doable achievements/stamps for it as the challenges are reasonably fun and I didn't get the proper ending for the last chapter's time limit run.

I had to abuse included cheats. I enjoyed it. I can see why it was so critically acclaimed in its day. Without cheats it's bloody hard, pixel perfect jumps and unpredictable enemy movements don't help. The design of the game itself was cool though, they really moved on from Atic Atac.

I was a C64 owner that looked down on the farty calculator but have in recent years realised there were some bloody great games for their time on that thing. (I used to play a bit on my grandad's Speccy before being given my C64 for Xmas in '85. I was nearly a Speccy owner but neighbours talked my parents into buying the superior machine instead).

Rewind feature was abused for this. I defeated all 20 targets and got the achievement so I'd call it done. Ok game for its age I guess, nothing great these days but could have been a fun score attack to play against friends when I was a kid. Later duels would be nigh on impossible without the rewind feature. Nothing else to report really.

Technically it never ends, got to the point where the other cars have a higher top speed than me regardless of upgrades. I got the achievements for racing on all tracks, 25 race wins and 100 laps overall so I'd call that done.

Similar story to other titles in this pack, only doable for me with rewind feature abuse. I would have loved this if I'd played it as a kid, I was a big fan of stuff like 5th Gear and Spy Hunter on C64 and then both Super Cars games on Amiga. This game got ridiculously hard at later levels with all speed upgrades, that might also be down to the emulation running a bit faster than a NES maybe, I don't know as I never played this on a NES let alone owned one.

    23. 8-Bit Yu-no's Great Adventure (NSW) (23/11/19) (8.5/10)

Completed YU-NO with all endings and art unlocks but only 99% on completion rate. Thought I would try and find last per cent today but didn't so that will do. The game is an "all ages" remake (PEGI 18...)remake of one of the more well renowned and influential Visual Novels of all time. You can see the heritage of the likes of Steins;Gate and the Zero Escape series here.

The game is a lot more adventure than the average VN with puzzles and point and click gameplay as you unravel a set of divergent time lines to get through the plot. The main section of the game can be quite tricky while you move between points of time using crystals (keeping your inventory when you move). The story is semi sci-fi and quite well written (and mostly well translated but there are some small errors and weird localisation (dollars in Japan...)) and there are enough concurrent plot lines throughout the routes to keep your interest. Voice acting is reasonable and background art is pretty, but the remade characters look a bit plain.

HOWEVER: this game was famous as one of the first VNs in Japan that wasn't just a dating/hentai game but it is the transitional game and despite being heavily toned down from the original there are many scenes you will likely not want seen in a public space. A lot of the dialogue and scenes that have been tamed are still described even if the art has been tamed. You do have the stereotype ecchi protagonist who grows over the course of the game but there is a lot of puerile humour and not all of it is skippable. The second half of the game is a lot more linear but overall it was nice to see the named influence of a lot of games I like get remade (by the SG team) and localised officially. It has the option of the original or remade soundtrack but only the new graphics.

Overall though I enjoyed it even if it did take me about 70 hours (which seems a lot higher than howlongtobeat says it should, but I do listen to all dialogue as Japanese practice).

The day after I played through the short (maybe an hour or so) but intriguing 8 Bit bonus game that you get exclusively with the Switch version. This is a faux NES platformer (and pretty spoilery if you haven't finished the main game) with similar time travel mechanics. The graphics are really nice for the style and the music is decent enough. Fun little action platformer/shmup with some bosses too.

So two more on my list (and I notice I forgot to put date on NG) and should have Psychedelic a done in next day or so. May finish off Town of Light or Shenmue next...

Finished Corpse Killer on normal difficulty with 68% trophies. The game probably doesn't deserve the 7.5/10 but it won on B Movie charm. Gameplay is simple operation wold clone with zombies and cheesy FMV. Looks nice on PS4 considering its age and budget. Was designed for light guns but plays okay considering. It is no House of the Dead but I enjoyed it as a retro throwback I hadn't played first time around. Relatively short too.

Finally finished my long haul bedtime VN reading (spent most of year slowly going through this with breaks for boredom and the start is VERY slow paced) . It was very long winded and pedestrian at times even though it did have some interesting story behind it. I had hoped that despite being otome it would be more interesting like Code Realize was. Voices are mostly okay and art style is quite pretty it the amount of slice of life is over heavy. It managed to hold enough interest to at least finish all of the routes and platinum but not a patch on the 5pb VNs. Also incorporated an odd little target shooting mini game. Next Vita game will be something more interesting I hope...

Started Shenmue on PS4 and may play through Saga 2 on DS. Otherwise not sure what is next but may seek some shorter games.

Finished Liar Princess with all flowers collected (but only 90/100 petals). Fairy tale puzzle platformer about a wolf who can turn into a princess helping a (helpless) blind prince through a bunch of levels to a dark fairy tale story with very pretty art and nice music interspersed with narration of the tale. Controls are mostly tight enough with a few annoyances and a pretty balanced difficulty (unlike the very challenging Rose game from NISA a few years ago which I haven't finished yet). Enjoyed the atmosphere and simple charm of this Japanese take on a Grimm style fairy tale.

Started Exile's End on Vita too so who knows what game is next on my list... May make it to the 30s yet despite my slow start... Should be nearly finished Last Remnant and a few SG spinoff to finish too.

@DUFFMAN5 Heh, I'm nearly up to 50 but that's included a load of 8 bit games I missed out on the first time around, usually they can be done in an afternoon or evening. If I knew the games well enough I could do many of them in 30 odd minutes a pop ;)

    26. The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince (NSW) (27/11/19) (8/10)
    27. Batman Enemy Within (PS4) (8.5/10)
    27.1 Episode 1 (28/11/19) (8.5/10)
    27.2 Episode 2 (28/11/19) (7/10)
    27.3 Episode 3 (29/11/19) (8/10)
    27.4 Episode 4 (29/11/19) (8.5/10)
    27.4 Episode 5 (29/11/19) (8.5/10)

Played through ep 1 of Batman Season 2. Pleasantly surprised it was bug free after how flakey season 1 could be. Enjoying the story and it has set up a potential good start. I enjoyed the season 1 take on Batman so hoping this is good too. Fairly lengthy episode too at over 2.5 hours (estimate).

Will continue when I get 3 hour gaps to play as like to do an ep at a time.

Edit - finished episode 2 and still bug free and the story is okay but it did introduce my least favourite Batman character which dragged down its score a bit as they are a big part of the episode. Even despite that doesn't quite match up to ep 1.

Edit 2 -despite the aforementioned character the plot is at least going I interesting directions so will rate this one a little higher. The appearance of choice seems decent (but obviously could be a lot less on repeated playthrough which I won't be doing)

Edit 3 - and finished ep 4 which has brought the plot back up and hopefully will lead to an interesting conclusion in the final episode. One minor graphical glitch where one character has double layers of eyes in a scene but still pretty smooth overall.

Edit 4 -finished the game and it worked well. Apparently this chapter can be massively different depending on choices too. I think the main story participants' arc worked really well and I even suppose the unlikeable character was necessary to the story. Overall a fine continuation of Season 1 so if you enjoyed that this is worth playing too.

After Black Ops III (which I enjoyed co-op on) I decided I'd unlikely buy another CoD. I got this in the Humble Monthly and was going to ignore it but I saw my brother playing it and he suggested we may get in some online matches together. I installed it and decided to give the campaign a go, I liked it. It seemed in some ways to take me back to CoD 2. I found the sorry to be engaging and not to be quite as excessive as post MW2 outings.
