Is there regular sessions on there? If so I'd be up for joining.

I have been banned for some unknown reason as I haven't played for months. Have a query pending but can take up to 30 days.

There aren't regular sessions as in a set day or time but I'm sure that could be easily arranged. Squads as a max of 3.. makes it easy. Once I've moved house and aren't bothered about waking or annoying my neighbours (walls so thin I hear them get texts)I'd be up for it. Although no mic is cool too. The ping system is great.

Such a fantastic game. Frustrating as hell at times and I don't even really like shooters but this one has depth and learning.

There is a club max of 30, I think we're about 17 currently, so get in. Also, no obligation to play if you get an invite. It's all fun.

Gibroon, you've been blocked by the game not the Eurogamer club just to clarify? I don't think the club can even do that.

Only one rule I play by. Respect the jumpmaster and don't punett off on your own.

So, my nearly 11 year old has been bugging me about playing this. Thoughts on suitability? He plays Fortnite but my instinct is that this is a bit grittier....

This is the same sort of cartoony look, no gore and bodies disappear. I don't think there's much of a difference for him.

My 12 yr old nephew was playing it last week (support bubble family so sat next to him) and I was coaching him through his game. He got 5 kills and won. Coolest uncle badge awarded. Thankfully his electricals time is very curtailed so that fluke wasn't called out.

He and his brother said that fortnight was "gross".

Minecraft is still king it seems though.

Simple solution is to download it and play it for yourself for 20 minutes. Itís free to play and available on all platforms.

That would be a plan but I am shit at shooters. Only other worry is abusive chat etc, but presumably I can amend all the settings etc.

I've played quite a bit and never come across any abusive chta, griefing etc. Most don't even have a mic on, and if he plays with mates he avoids it completely.

Stop being a mean dad and get it downloaded for him!

You need to be level 10 to unlock clubs. I'm level 4 currently - will grind a bit and then join. Half the battle rn is just learning what guns take what ammo etc.

    Dougs, apex is fine. Honest.

    Overwatch would also be ok.

    You are mean.

They can just use ping so chat is almost non-existent unless in a party.

You can also easily mute everyone on the character select screen.

I am truly rubbish at this game... but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Clips run out so fast... I need to remember this.

Right - that's me in the club. My gamertag is dwhhhhhhhhhh. I've got comms but happy to play with or without. If you see me on, feel free to invite me. Will save me getting pub stomped by other partied players.

Why did they get rid of the wall running from TF? That was so much fun and would seem to be in keeping with a heavily mobility-based shooter. Surprised they don't even seem to have a legend who can wall run, unless I've missed it.

Since it became available on Switch my 10 (nearly 11) year old has jumped from Fortnite over to Apex. Admittedly we do game together a bit so I was a fan of doing this with him over Fortnite which I can't really stand.

Apex is definitely grittier - the language used is a bit more "kill" than "eliminate" for instance, and some of the animations of the finishing moves cause my (admittedly sensitive) son to grimace a bit. That said he's no longer asking to watch Terminator, Predator, Aliens, Joker and whatever else Fortnite seems happy to crossover with next.

Thanks Binks. I may roll over for his birthday - on the understanding he does it on the Switch or the PS4 in the other room, not on my PS5!

@Dougs Actually that's a good point because it's worth knowing that you can't log in on one device then carry your play over to another; so which ever one you want him on - get him set on that.

Ah, so not like Fortnite then where there's a central account? He'll probably just have 2 accounts....

The Switch version is truly dreadful - it will put him off. I'm not sure about the PS4 version.

It is coming from a Series X, but it's no different to the softness and shite FPS that Fortnite suffers from on Switch. It is what it is, and for kids that age it seems alright to be honest.

edit: Also - having the Switch version means he can come sit on the sofa as I do the Xbox version and we can do duos together. THAT is where the Switch version wins out for us.

(But yeah, it's quite the difference to the full fat version.)
