Still not sure it's right every time. I played as Lifeline for ages and it was saying zero kills.

The data for kills does seem all over the place. Well that's my excuse when it says zero.

I'm not even certain what it qualifies as a kill - I had a match where I downed 6 or 7 people, and at the end I had 3 kills. Do you have to finish them off? Damage done?

Important thing is the game is really good.

Your opponent needs to be killed, as in they can't be revived (although I believe they can still be respawned).

Yeah you need to eliminate them (kill once downed).

I am finding this harder to do well in than PUBG! I think I am a bit handicapped as I play it like Titanfall, where an alternator clip can take out two enemies, but in this does not seem to be enough to take out a single enemy with full shields.

In TF, I would start shooting immediately when I see an enemy, now I wait a bit to line up my shots. Of course, I also benefit from the increased TTK, but it still needs a different type of play.

I was happy though when I grappling hooked somebody :p

Yeah, just downing someone doesn't count as a kill. But, when they're crawling around it means there is still another squad member somewhere. Downed enemies will immediately die when the last squad member is taken out.

Bit harsh though if I down somebody and my squadmate kills them, I'm the one who did the actual work.

*squadmate kills them and grabs all the best loot.

No I think his squadmate would.

Any online shooter works a bit like that though doesn't it. You can soften up an enemy only for a teammate to fire the killing bullet. At least in this you get credit for damage.

I frequently get random squad mates with 5 kills and 250 damage. While I sit on 1 kill and 1000 damage. Itís all good, only if we win.

re:finishing off enemies in other online shooters. It's not quite the same if you're killing any enemy that's crawling on the floor and can't shoot back.

It's swings and roundabouts, I haven't got a problem with how it works. The downed state kinda puts the focus on killing the squad not the individual kill.

It maybe explains why the kill xp is quite low. Imagine how pissed some players would be if it were 500xp per kill.

I think you'd be awarded the kill in that scenario and the other person would get an assist.

@AcidSnake On XBOX360? I played that to death (one of the few games I got 1000/1000 on). Didnt touch it on PC though. Was in my console phase back then while I kicked the WoW addiction.

If the guy you shoot is downed but gets revived you dont get credited with the kill. Pretty sure the person that does the most damage to them (to down them) gets the kill credit.

I love it. Just drop me a message or invite if around for games. Been playing with quite a few different people off and on so dont be offended if I dont join while in a match!

3 wins in 6 games on PS4 earlier. All the other games we finished in the top 3. Bizarre!

Totally in love with the Spitfire and Peacekeeper combo now. Took me a while to have favourite guns, but I definitely do better with those over any snipers etc.

Also came a cropper to a final circle with Caustic setting his cannisters off in the only entryway in. Damn you, damn you to hell!!

I'm not sure what constitutes a "kill". I played some games this evening and just finishing off a downed enemy doesn't award a kill.

No, you need to down them and have them die. You turning up and putting the killing blow on a downed enemy doesnít count.

I'm still rubbish at this game but completely addicted. Very happy for Respawn that it's taken off like this.

Despite now feeling more comfortable with many aspects of the game, surviving the first encounter is now a 'good' round for me. Finishing in the top three squads is a miracle. I fear my one and only win may stay that way.

I also think I might be too considerate a looter. My squadmates are happy to rinse everything in sight even if I'm looking at it, getting up to purple armour before we even leave the first area. I'm usually left mopping up their leftover items. I probably need to be more ruthless.

Yep. The Alternator is much worse than the TF2 variant. It's not terrible, but the R-99 is far superior and more closely resembles the ye olde Alternator. Carbine is probably about as good as the Alternator at close range and definitely better at midrange.

Agreed about the change in playstyle too. I tend to stalk my prey in this, getting as close as possible before slamming them with a shotgun or SMG.

Started giving Wraith a proper whirl tonight. She is very fast which is great for getting up close, or bailing out of a fight. The portal is quite cool if you need to get your team out of a tightspot too. Dash somewhere far away and stick the second portal in a building or behind some rocks and it's great for getting out of danger.

Wraith's skills do increase her speed when active but regular movement speed is the same for all characters, it's just their animation speed and camera height that are different.

The portal is very good for moving a downed teammate over a large distance. I was downed and well outside the ring and my teammate dropped a portal which get me back into the safe zone.

My son spends far too long hoovering up leftover ammo and then whines when he gets pounced on by another squad.

I think the loot in this game is pretty darned generous and there's no need to explore every nook and cranny. Although I probably would advise that at the first initial dropzone. After that you get most stuff you need from downed players.

It does seem that you can get the odd game where every type of ammo around you is the wrong kind, but I just swap weapon if it doesn't feel like I'm going to have any luck.

Mozambique was reasonably fun in TF2. For some reason I'd rather try and melee someone to
death than use it in this!

Peacekeeper is my favourite weapon so far. I think Iíve killed more people with that than any other weapon. Followed by the wingman, I always makes sure I carry at least one of those two.

Yeah same. Prowler with hop-up and Peacekeeper is my go to loadout.

    Carbine and R99 after that.

I'm just glad I find a weapon. Quite a few times I've left our initial landing spot swinging my fists around.

I think my only kill so far was actually from beating up a player with melee attacks.
