Still would be weary as to weather some of these were also partly for backlash, views, talking points etc. Especially with Nike and Gillette, etc. I barely watch broadcast TV, let alone adverts. But you couldn't go online or social media without seeing these plastered all over the place.

They seem aimed at stirring the pot. Especially the one with Serena Williams sucking herself off.

I don't want to put words in his mouth in case he sucks himself off but I think perhaps the pot that contains things such as the existence of LGBTIA people andpeople with brown skin having the temerity for asking to be treated equally. You know, those kind of controversial subjects.

Basically there's a slight shift in that big corps aren't necessarily looking at something and going "this is good for the bottom line", but "this is primarily good for society, and as a secondary result will help us out". There's a nuance there that the cynical often overlook.
Where's the evidence for that? Because it sounds to me like someone is gulping down the corporate Kool Aid.
Companies have owners. Most big companies' owners are things like pension funds. It's when they start to care about these issues that things change at scale. Google stuff about responsible/sustainable/ESG investment if you really want to know about some of the trends influencing corporate behaviour.

I may have to watch. Why you ask? Well, in the interests of not being PC or woke - I'd really like to bang her.
    Disgusting misogyny.

I'm a tad cynical of corporate motives.

Reputational damage can be fatal. A fairly minor incident can go viral and snowball into a campaign. Customers can switch banks, utility suppliers, clothing brands or swan neck kettle suppliers instantly.

I don't doubt individuals staff members enthusiasm for philanthropy but I suspect from a company point of view it's more about optics and marketing than altruistic motives.

In my experience the external message often doesn't tally with the day to day business practices.

It's definitely about optics and marketing. Nike invented the sweatshop, they had that athlete program where they abused young women, yet they care soooo deeply about human rights.

Google set up an AI ethics team, then dismantled it in a most unethical way.

Apple cares really hard about privacy, unless that would deny access to a market, in which case it's "Gotta comply with the lead! Nothing we can do!"

I like the idea that this columnist was sacked by the "woke" Telegraph because she was too honest. In reality she made a painfully unfunny racist joke on Twitter and got called out for it. Agree with the sentiment of this tweet, nobody ever actually gets 'silenced' when this happens.

It's literally from ex-Brass Eye writer Charlie Brooker's Death To 2020. Netflix paid for a good cast as well as the usual Wipe lot, so check it out if you haven't!

The fact that the right presents people who don't think misogyny, racism and transphobia are okay as the "puritans" really makes me laugh.
    It's always such fucking projection.
As for Saunders, haa she even seen her own comedy? I don't remember anything on there as being particularly offensive.

She's saying she's sick of people moaning about jokes rather than "right voices are being silenced". By pretending she means something else your just buying into this shitty imaginary culture war that the media is so desperate to get started.

    @Decks
I was more commenting on the shitty Sun editorial rather than whatever Saunders said, to be honest.
It definitely comes across as them trying to fit a few quotes from her into their pointless twattery.
