Registered 14 years agoThanks @Wunty.
Yeah I need to try again on this, the problem seemed to adding to the loadouts. I'll have another go.
That's one problem with this game, I start doing one thing then get distracted and do another.
*Or maybe that's actually a problem with me....🤪
Just bought the expansion in the sales, was hoping for a good deal on War of the Chosen but this will do nicely.

Registered 12 years agoFinished the main story last night and reached tier 1. I had dipped in on Div 2 back when it came out, it's so much better now.
I found the loadouts are a bit confusing in the beginning and need constant updating as the loot drops/improvements are so frequent. They feel more suited to top-level, end-game activities when there's incremental improvements to gear. I've played the game up to lvl 30 so far and load out hasn't really seemed to matter yet.
As far as I can tell, updating a load out means overwriting it when you have swapped our a piece of gear.

Okay that's what I'm finding thanks, the overwriting, I back off at that point
Will wait till I hit 30. -

Registered 17 years agoI’m at level 40 and working on the post-DLC endgame and still haven’t had a need for load outs.
On reflection though there are times when I should’ve sacrificed my standard skills based build for raw survivability or burst damage output from my own weapons.
I’d imagine for the higher difficulties it’d be a must.
I did the first 40 levels on Normal but have now bumped the world up to Hard. It mixes things up nicely. -

Registered 13 years agoSo are you back in DC Phattso, or still in NY? I'm curious as to how it works. I don't have the DLC (not yet at least), and have just hit world tier 4. It's opened up a new Black Tusk stronghold (I forget the name, but it's sort of south central in the map) - have you seen/done that stronghold, since you skipped the world tier bits? -

Registered 8 years ago@Phattso To be fair I only wanted a second load-out when I got to Summit floor 100 and kept getting melted with my skill build. Haven't needed to change since then though.
Need to get back to this. Bloody Mortal Kombat and it's beautiful fatalities keeping me away. -

Registered 13 years agoI tend to swerve skill builds for damage most of the time, but should maybe try that.
Does it just output more damage on skills and let them regen faster between uses? -

Registered 17 years ago@monkman76 here’s how it works as I understand it:
Play in DC until level 30 and finishing the campaign.
You then enter the World Tier system and can choose to play that.
If you start the DLC, you have to stay in NYC until you finish the story. All the World Tier stuff and core missions back in DC are marked as completed.
After the DLC story there’s a new and different endgame that spans both DC and NYC and you can move freely between the locations including accessing stuff like the Pentagon missions and all that other endgame stuff. -

It depends on the skills. I rock Turret and Seeker Mines. Skill level turns the turret from pea shooter to death cannon. It turns seeker mines from 3 mines up to 7 and boosts their damage.

Regen and stuff is usually gear bonuses, although you can mod your skills as well with up to four buffs. -

Registered 13 years ago@Phattso Thanks. Quite glad I've done the world tier stuff then - though am I right in saying you have a separate character that you could go back and do it with? So have you not even encountered Black Tusk?
Not sure what the other endgames are like, but it's quite cool in the world tiers regularly coming across pitched street battles between Black Tusk and the Hyenas or the Outcasts (? the other faction). -

Registered 13 years agoAh ok, I'll maybe give that a go. I usually have a few spares for gear kicking around. I have had a tier 4 turret before, which did help things, but mostly playing solo, i do like to output as much damage as I can.
At level 36ish some of the gear damage buffs at are quite tasty, nearly all over 5% and some at about 10%bonus. I find those difficult to resist!

Registered 13 years agoI did up to level 30 with one offensive skill (turret) and a bot thing for armour regen, but have since switched to 2 offensives (added a drone) and it's great. I certainly don't lack for damage output playing solo. .gif)
Of the two, I'd recommend the drone, it's fantastic. With either of them, you can aim at a particular enemy (elite or named etc) and press RB or LB to get the skill to concentrate on them, so tactically it can be useful (and fun). -

Registered 17 years ago@monkman76 yes, I parked my first character in World Tier 1 and used a boost to get a brand new character to Level 30 for the DLC.
The newer endgame has a lot of what you’ve liked about World Tiers, so I’m no stranger to Black Tusk.
One day I might go back to my original character and play that stuff, but both variants of the endgame use the same “repurpose old missions” trick so I doubt it’s a vast difference.
There are also other elements to level up from 40 onwards that aren’t in the level 30 endgame. So realistically there’s already more content than I’ll ever see and I probably won’t go back.

Registered 9 years agoHad my first go at the dark zone yesterday. After getting spanked by a random patrol I managed to make friends with someone who was already doing an extraction so I could see how it works. Then managed to get 3 items of my own once they'd left.
What's the etiquette on using someone else's extraction line? Assume you don't do it until the timer's nearly finished in case they want to add more of their own items... -

Registered 9 years agoAlso, I didn't run into a Rogue Agent the whole time I was there, but I figure it still matches by level and no-one who's serious about going rogue is lv12 like I am... -

Registered 6 years agoMy Skill build is really good fun to play with, my SHD level is only about 60 but I was able to jump into a Legendary mission with 3 others with a much higher level than me this morning and hold my own, think I got the second most damage in the group. I run the Striker Drone and Assault Turret which lets you hide behind stuff if it's tough going and let them do the work. My Skill haste is currently at 16 seconds so regenerate in no time. As Wunty says, it's not very often that the Skills get nerfed, especially in a group so a good beginners build for soloing or in a team.
I am currently working on a pure DPS build as well - the rolling of gear is a little frustrating though as you can only roll one factor per item so a good drop is needed.
Try this for anyone looking for specific builds - the Operator is my Skill build and I can solo Hard missions quite easily with it.

I haven't encountered a rogue yet, but i have seen someone fighting on at an extraction zone (and tried to help vs the rogue).
There seems to be less griefing than before and more working together, maybe cos the usual mob who enjoy that have moved on to other games now? -

Registered 8 years agoYeah there's no etiquette in the DZ. You just do whatever you can to ensure that you get your shit uplifted.
@Vortex oh there's still plenty of griefing that I've seen!! -

Registered 9 years agoSo are the griefers just out to be dicks, or is it genuinely people playing the Rogue Agent role and stealing your stuff for themselves? Because when it's built into the game, I guess I don't have a problem with it, just wondering how common it is. I've played and loved Vigor, which 100% encourages competing for the same loot (and is basically "what if dark zone was the whole game?") -

Registered 14 years agoHad a great time the other morning, the day the psn servers went down for maintenance.
I started the bank mission, the one that ends with you extracting the President
, with a timer showing about 30 minutes until the game shut down.
I struggled a bit, died a few times, considered it but didn't want to give up and lose progress.
Managed to get out of the bank with seconds on the clock before the servers shut down. -

Registered 14 years agoSkill builds are great for soloing missions on anything up to and including heroic. Or Level 4 control points on heroic.
Something like Technician running with 3 empress, 2 hana-u with kinetic momentum on the chest and combined arms on backpack. Waveform Holster if you have it and the named rifle Surge or a another gun with Spike. Mod your main gun with laser pointer you get from technician.
Famas or G36 with In-Sync and Striker Drone and Assault Turret. Max out your skill damage and haste as best you can and then sit back and melt.
Also try and run a couple of directives to increase the drop rate of any specific items your after. -

Registered 13 years agoSadly, last night i got a bunch of stuff with high damage buffs, i guess i'll have to start stuffing things in my stash.
Maybe once i hit 40, at level 39 just now, so not long until then. A couple of side missions to go, then on to the final NY big baddie. -
Any tips on destroying the manifold at the end of the Kenly College Metro mission? Can't get anywhere near putting enough damage on it even at story difficulty, I always run out of time with it still near max health (armour removed). Maybe I need a non-skill build, as I can't seem to get the turret or drone to target it reliably.
