    The UK public pick the wrong song again.
    An X Factor standard power ballad shouty thing.

    We need a peopleís vote on it.

    I love Eurovision

    The British entry is the purest blandest sub-X-Factor drivel possible. I hope we finish last.

    Seeing that Swedish Peace Peace Love Love guy hosting the song choice show was a treat though. How is he not an international megastar?!

    @Armoured_Bear

    I wouldn't go judging other people's musical taste given the lukewarm dog shit you like.

    British entries to Eurovision are like a middle finger to Europe. But when it comes to worst entries, I think we have a say too. I dread whatever we'll come up with this time.

    If you are talking about the song Freaks then see my above post. That song has definitely been around before. Somewhere...

    The Czech song could do already if they get the staging right.

    Also reality stars picking other failed reality stars to represent us at Eurovision (except maybe one) ....surely Eurovision should be a chance for all new acts to do something? Mind you, what do we expect with that panel of Ďexpertsí?

    I knew absolutely nothing of Eurovision (hated the whole ordeal since I was a kid) but this thread prompted me to look up the Wikipedia entry and... Australia, wut?

    At first I thought it was a misspelling of Austria but it's really the country that is among the farthest-removed from Europe on the entire planet.

    Again: wut?

    Eurovision?

    Because it's an incredible entertainment spectacular. It's the Wrestlemania of music

    @JoeBlade apparently it gets a huge audience down there so for one of the big anniversary shows (50th?) they let the Aussies compete as a one off and now they've been in every one since.

    They usually send someone off The X Factor or whatever but this year looks like they've gone full Eurovision at last

    The entries from Poland, Portugal and Azerbaijan are all really neat.

    I reckon Azerbaijan could be a contender to win it. Or certainly well amongst the category of "best songs if they existed in actual pop music outside of Eurovision".

    @X201

    You have to be kidding. If you have problem with power ballad, this is the problem of your personal preference, because power ballads can do very well at Eurovision: Austria 2014, Russia 2015, Australia 2017. The list is long, but I'm giving you the most recent examples.

    You chose the only logical option. Out of the three contestants that were left in the final, Michael Rice was the best. He has a great voice, memorable look and charisma.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_IcrNgV-O4

    Jordan Clarke's song is bloody annoying, his voice is no good for Eurovision.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMmPwn1qYn0&list=PL5A4nPQbUF8C-hwFCh1Adz5KosZut3pbp&index=15

    Kerrie-Anne looked just aggressive and annoyed at the stage, which is a suicide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OL89XsQ2pU&list=PL5A4nPQbUF8C-hwFCh1Adz5KosZut3pbp&index=16

    Another reason why Jordan Clarke and Kerrie-Anne were not picked, is that it was their first performance on a big stage, which is a huge disadvantage. The audience at Grand Final is massive and there's a chance that even the experienced performer will get nervous and fuck up (eg. Alekseev in 2018). A rookie might get even more overwhelmed with the pressure.

    I do agree that the song is shit and will in fact perform poorly, but out of what you had, that shit was the least smelly. And this is not the problem of this year, or contestants. UK just has very poor quality of national selection. Nobody takes it seriously at your country, thus truly popular and talented singers avoid it. It is nothing like national selection in Sweden or Ukraine.
