a good governement should not give the people what they want, but what they need.

I’m sure you do think it’s disingenuous. Also, I think you’ve made an assumption on my thoughts about Labour rather than take on board what I’ve said in the past.

Just to reiterate, I think this post is extremely disingenuous. The reason I’m posting stuff in this thread - the politics thread - is to demonstrate the issue Labour have with antisemtism.
Like I said, I’m really not that bothered by what one person said on the internet. I wouldn’t be surprised if you posted links to people being racist in any number of ways.
The irony here is that the main reason I do it is to persuade people specifically like you. Not to preach to the choir for those that already see it.
The more of these I post, the more I hope that you’ll concede that it is actually a specific (not common or garden racist hate but specifically related to imperialistic conspiracy), and widespread within leadership positions in the party (individuals like this).
Yet these two points are the things you seem to wilfully fail to recognise. -

Registered 15 years agoHeh, the Tories are planning on solving the non-existant problem of voter fraud with bringing in photographic ID checks.
I mean, Christ, at least pretend like you aren't following Evil Right Winging For Dummies page by page. -

Sincerely hope the September polls predicting a tory wipe out in Scotland hold true. -

Doesn't matter that much, does it? The cunts will still be in charge overall.

Fairly likely they'll lose that vote though. At least until they win the next election anyway.

Registered 18 years agoIn theory, they should lose them all. Very difficult to control legislation without a majority. Who knows what amendments will get through that the government doesn't want. -

Registered 16 years agoIf the Tories want to bring in a voter ID fair enough but I'll bet when they see the price tag of setting it up they won't do it. -

Registered 6 years agoThe thing with Id cards is that if everyone has easy access to one then it isn't a problem. The tories know full well that not everyone has a driving license or passport, not only cost involved but also puts a barrier in place.
If we already had a national id card system then would be a non issue. -

Labour pitched them at the height of their surveillance state period, so everyone said 'go fuck yourselves'

Registered 9 years agoI never really had an issue with a DNA database or ID cards tbh. I understand why people do but I feel the pro's outweigh the cons. -

Registered 18 years agoIt's entirely disenfranchising and means the poor and minorities are disproportionately hit. It doesn't bother me personally as I'm a law-abiding middle aged white man but I can see young black lads being absolutely shafted. -

Registered 16 years agoIt's just so transparent as another of Johnson's attempts to appeal to the racist gammons. The sort who genuinely believe that BAME Labour MPs only get elected because of voter fraud and 'they're only voting for one of their own' etc, along with 'sure there's only been a couple of proven instances of voter fraud at the booths but it's all the ones you don't know about that are the problem.'
Luckily there's no possibility of Johnson getting this through before the next election. -

Registered 15 years agoFor me, I'd say it's a pretty 50/50 split between those with no driving licence/passport and those who spend their whole lives jetting around the world or on cruises.
I guess we know which half Johnson is after. -

I bet the polling station staff would let a lovely old (white) biddy off a lot more often than they would someone younger (or less white)

It does my fucking head in, parliament is basically just a school playground since he got in. It's always been shit but this is next level now. -
