Nigel Farage is happy about it - it's political capital for him.

He definitely, definitely, DEFINITELY cares about the people who were killed. Definitely. Just like all those people who definitely care about the underage girls that Prince Andrew raped.... Oh wait.

Iím not a fan of Corbyn although would take him ahead of Johnson any day of the week but this thread on the media shows how ridiculous it is.

It's almost as if different publications will have entirely different views on things.

So authors contradicting themselves in different publications and also in the same publication is good journalism that you can trust, is it?

Certain publications like The Guardian and The Times intentionally have provocative opinion pieces that go against their broader political position. Itís entirely intentional and done to show balance. Itís a bit ridiculous to paint that as contradictory.

When you then use select articles from more single minded publications like The New Statesman or The Spectator to enhance the perspective youíre cheating the point. You could do a very similar exercise for Johnson if you were so inclined.

What is true is that there are more right wing traditional media publications so on balance Corbyn gets worse press. Itís also worth recognising that Corbynís new media engine is extremely strong and includes a number of extremely high profile and dubious unregulated sites.

It's always difficult to gauge just how representative a cross-section these focus groups generally are, but it's difficult not to fear that this is precisely how the Tories are going to walk this:

Focus groups are becoming more and more ignored as a reliable method of gauging opinion.

Yeah, it's probably wise not to extrapolate too greatly. Still rather grim viewing though.

What's interesting is Boris (like Trump) has multiple kids from multiple women. Has cheated on multiple partners and has been embroiled in affairs which have financial potentially fraudulent elements but it's all hand waved away.

If they were Asian, Black or pretty much any ethnicity other than white men. They would be completely roasted over their personal lives by these very focus groups.

@Load_2.0 there's a guy I went to school with who I see regularly arguing that you can't trust Corbyn because he's had three wives and can't stick by a woman like a real man would ...

and that we should vote for Boris instead.

I'd guess like most people they vote habitually based on what people like them in their area do without putting a huge time investment into examining manifestos or policy documents.

Lots of traditional Labour areas are less socially liberal than plenty of Tory ones for example. Or areas where everyone is clearly a massive Tory in how they act and attitudes they express but return Lib Dems

I'm also currently surrounded by poor buggers struggling along the bottom of society, hear this stuff every day, they are almost all determined to vote Johnson, who is in turn determined to keep them there. Soul destroying.

Yeah. From their accent I think they're from around my - very marginal - area. The reason I suspect it's marginal is because while it's very working class, Labour aren't nasty enough

That's almost certainly because they believe the EU and foreigners are the reasons they aren't living the life.

I think it'll be another hundred years or more before this classic political tactic is no longer effective.

In fact, it'll probably never die, just the scapegoat will have changed to AIs or something.

It seems such a strange leap to go from being a Labour supporter to voting for Boris because you donít like Corbyn.

I mean, they very much echo my feeling on Corbyn but it would never occur to me to see Boris as a better alternative.

I think some of the stuff he comes out with like "picaninnies" resonates with a certain age demographic.

He's a straight shooter, not like those bloomin' snowflake lefties.
