Iíve reached the Caspian Desert and played around 3 hours of it... but also had three more freezes. Getting fed up of restarting the game now as it takes well over a minute. Absolutely ridiculous that a console game should crash this much. Not acceptable in my opinion.

Three hours of gameplay and you've lost three minutes in reloading? Doesn't sound bad to me .

Just completed the first few sections. My word that was the most exciting gaming I've experienced in a LONG time.

It's not just the time taken to reload, though, is it? Every time the game crashes, there's a loss of immersion.

    @neems

Crashed while saving, corrupting the savedata. Wouldn't start the game without overwriting the save, hence, start from scratch.

I'm making a backup on a USB stick after every sesh now, and waiting to see if it crashes in the same place again.....

In a post apocalyptic world, things will crash all the time.

Wow that sounds like an odd way to build a game.

You've been making some amazing progress though, I'll still be traipsing round a flooded train depot when you're finishing up.

If anybody is interested I put up a couple more vids on my Youtube channel, follow the link from the previous page.

Eh? A hard crash every hour on a £50 console game does sound pretty bad to me but each to their own I guess.

I'm going to be one of those guys who hasn't experienced a crash yet. My copy was installed with the 3gb patch before I started and my X has instant on disabled. Do you think that's connected?

Playing through 2033 redux at the moment. It's pretty fucking scatmando.

I'm still touring the area with the church. You lot love rushing about!

Int eh first open world bit, I've Got the Teddy, and the Guitar :)

However I did not Manage to save Duke, I had to shoot 1 bloody person before I met the priest and I think that's what did it.

I have had about 8 or 9 freezes in total for the 14-15 hours I've been playing this game so far.

I do have my Xbox One X in standby mode (otherwise the console takes an excruciatingly long time to turn on), though many of these crashes have occurred after restarting the game from a forced quit and not turning the machine off then on again.

However, I have been taking a lot of screenshots and I think that may be triggering the crashes or perhaps it's just accessing the Guide that does it? I played the game for over an hour with no issues last night but I did not take any screenshots or access the Guide.

It may be just coincidence but it might explain why some people are getting more crashes than others, if they are taking screenshots or accessing the Guide/Home screen.

Whatever, this is an issue that needs fixing, whether it's a patch to the game itself or via a firmware update on the Xbox (since the Guide and Screenshot functions are part of operating system).

I really want this on PC bit it is a bit pricy at the moment. Having an RTX 2070 makes me more curious to play with that mode too (particularly as I am only running 21:9 1080P so may manage a decent frame rate...

I'm also interested from a technology perspective, but dont really have much time for "survival" type shooters, just gimme a gun and loads of ammo and let me shoot stuff ala doom or wolfenstein.

Easy and normal modes give a decent amount of ammo and play pretty much as a standard shooter, the harder difficulties specifically target the survival aspect.

@AddyJB is that good or bad? Having never tried a metro I can't decide whether to play the original remasters or dive straight into exodus...

@Chug666 They're both good games and the story continues right through all 3 games but the new one does a good job of getting you up to speed with the story if you want to just jump straight into Exodus

@Chug666 I've played the first 2 and hated them. This grabbed me straight away and absolutely loved it. Maybe it's because most of it isn't underground. Looks stunning on the X as well. Had a few freezes early on but just the one over the bulk of the game. Way too early to say its GOTY but it will be up there come December I think.

@MouthOfSauron cheers, good to know! The conpletist in me says start from the beginning, the realist looks at my backlog and thinks exodus makes more sense.

I actually scrapped some gameplay videos because even in the more action packed sequences it was 20 seconds of me shooting people and 10 minutes of creeping along corridors scavenging for loot and customising my guns.

    Best game ever \o/

@Chug666 The original games are great, I would thoroughly reccommend playing them before you dive into the Exodus.

Well I'm enjoying metro 2033 a lot. The gunplay is a bit iffy but im really liking the vibe. I hear the campaign for this and last light are only around 10 hours each so for me it makes more sense to tick those off before I buy Exodus.

A question for anybody who has finished Volga -

Did you have to fight the Tsar-Fish at all? I had a couple of run ins with him, but as far as I'm aware he was still merrily swimming around and being worshipped when we crossed the bridge.

I sent to him a 'better place'.
