It feels like nobody hangs around to curate anything at google. They shove something out to great fanfare and then it just withers and dies.

But it might also be that Stadia ate too much computing power that they rather use for Google Meet. Or that they're scared of anti trust breaking them up so they shed some of their dead weight business pre-emptively.
Or they have some short sighted guy in charge who says "You aren't meeting expectations, PIVOT TO PLATFORM!" -

Registered 12 years agoI can tell you from personal knowledge that Google is building UK server farms specifically for Stadia right now. Make of that what you will. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean these new installations won't be re-purposed for other forms of cloud computing. But they are, right now, being built for Stadia. -

Registered 16 years agoEven the new chromecast tv doesnt even support it. Thats how, apparently, serious they are about it. The CCTV (hur) should have not only supported it out of the gate but come with a month or twos free sub.
So, yeah, appearances to the contrary. They might just be provisioning more server space here as we are now outside the EU. -
