Registered 14 years ago@Ror sweet, gonna need some info when you have had time with it. Namely, if it's a lot better than Quantum Break. -

Registered 1 year agoRemedy Entertainment's upcoming third-person shooter Control has gone gold, according to a developer on the team. Effectively, development on the game has completed and discs are ready for manufacturing and distribution. -

Registered 11 years agoJust downloading a patch (5GB), then I'll start. I'm going to capture ~1 hour, so I'll bung that on YouTube and post it in here when it's up, too.
Also, doesn't appear to be X-enchanted, which is a shame.

Well I absolutely adored QB, so you might need to find a different opinion

Registered 11 years agoYeah, it wasn't showing up in My Games & Apps when sorted by X-enchanted before the patch, but post-patch it does.
Couple of quick screens I grabbed from where I currently am. Nothing too exciting.
I have a video of the first hour going up at the moment. I'll post it in case anyone wants to see it but obviously: spoilers.
So far, I am very much enjoying it. It's very Remedy, but feels darker, weirder than Quantum Break, which is what I was expecting. -

Registered 11 years agoVideo up. Might take a bit of time for higher resolutions to come through (though I only captured at 1080p).
Again, this is the first hour of the game, so don't watch if you want to go in fresh.

Registered 11 years agoI am absolutely loving this so far. About three hours in or so, plenty of exploring, finding collectibles, fighting bad dudes (combat feels great, especially once you've got a few powers).
Picked up a couple of sidequests so far, one of which unlocked a new ability, and you can hold up to three challenge missions at a time (equipped at save points). The latter are basically just 'kill x with y ability' or Destiny-style 'kill 50 enemies without dying' challenges that net you some rewards upon completion.
Well on its way to being in contention for my GOTY, but then I do love Remedy. -

Registered 3 years agoIs there any awkward platforming sections? I don’t know why Remedy persist with making them in their games as they’re always bloody awful. I still have nightmares about the Max Payne blood trail. -

Registered 11 years agoThere are some... sort of platforming-lite sections, but they're fine. They don't ask you to make timed jumps or anything (at least so far). It's pretty much "here is a gap. Jump over the gap."
Without wishing to spoil things, I can see there being scope for some deeper platformy stuff, especially given at least one of the abilities you can unlock. I feel like it would be in optional side content though (as that ability is, technically, missable). -

Registered 9 years agoI thought this was next weekend, not a Tuesday, after bank holiday so posting out early kinda thing.
I really may have pulled my finger out then, I’m into this but been steering clear of all recent previews etc. -

Registered 10 years agoDone the first hour and yeah, it’s very Remedy.
Feels very similar to Quantum Break in terms of the tone and visuals (but obviously even nicer looking). The 3rd-person combat is also similar to QB but more refined.
Definitely an interesting story happening here too.....feels very X-Files/Fringe to me.
Looking forward to playing more. -

Registered 9 years agoFantastic, Is there a good feel to it all, the traversal and gunplay. I think this could be just what the doctor ordered. -
I'd say the tone is pretty different, actually. Darker and weirder, as I said above. Quantum Break is more of an action movie, this is more of a thriller, if I was to put it in very simplistic terms.
The gunplay is typically Remedy, so good. But the abilities help to elevate it, and the world is incredibly reactive, with things blowing up and papers, tables and chunks of masonry flying about as you fight. Very like Quantum Break in that regard.
Jumping and clambering feels better in this game, but there's also more call for it here, so it needed to be better.
