DLC apparently OK but not amazing. Glad you liked it. It is also one of my favourite games of recent years, very modern but also reminiscent of a different era. Such a great atmosphere.

Really sad that so many just see “boring office environment, shit combat” and miss out. This is Remedy very much back on form for me. :)

(I went for the Plat on this and enjoyed it, btw. Not too much busy work, and really acted as a nice coda for me)

Yeah I'm going to look at what I need for the plat first then go in for the dlc probably. I don't really want to stop playing it just yet.

Funny as the two highlights for me were the combat and the setting.

Plus. How brilliant is that ashtray maze section.

These crashes are getting super annoying. Good thing the game saves your progress all the time, and with these quick load times, it's more an inconvenience than a real problem. But still... I'm sure it shouldn't happen.

I don't remember the DF video talking about crashes. I wonder if the Series S is too fast for its own good - trying to load new stuff before the previous assets have been unloaded from memory. I noticed it always happens when I try to open the inventory.

That sounds incredibly annoying. No crashes on the ps5 at all. Wonder why they are happening on your Xbox.

It's definitely in my all-time list too wunty. And I also loved the basic pistol. Can't wait for the PS5 upgrade.

@wuntyate probably because it's running the PS4 Pro version, which has extra memory. It's easy to imagine that the Xbox One and PS4 were being pushed a bit too hard here.

@Malek86 but would yours not be running the one x version?

@monkman76 totally man. I'll quite happily run through it again when the upgrade is out. Phenomenal.

I did have two or three hard locks on my PS4 play through, but nothing like the continual pestilence of crashing you’re getting. :(

@wuntyate Series X runs the One X version. Series S runs the One S version.

(though both platforms have the potential for their own specific path, as seen in a few games like Cyberpunk and Squadrons)

Finished. Didn't play too many sidequests though.

Feels a lot like missed potential. The combat is okay, but gets boring quickly since it boils down to throwing stuff, then shooting what's left. Navigation gets more fun once you start levitating, but that takes a long while.

Also I was kinda expecting the ever-shifting corridors of the Oldest House to, you know, shift around. Guess that would have been too complicated? Anyway, since most areas look drab and grey, you still get lost occasionally. Not sure it's a good thing.

The setting and plot is interesting enough, but then goes out with a whimper. I don't have the DLC so I can't tell if there's a proper resolution to the story there.

We got an approximate date for the next gen upgrade other than 2021?

Made a mistake of having a quick look earlier on on ps5 and I’ve been properly drawn in! Feels like a shame though to play now when I can the bells and whistles version “soon”.

Making good in roads to The Foundation. Finding that I'm actually having to work a bit harder now as I pretty much coasted through the main game, but I've died about 3 times so far. Fecking miners.

One thing that I don't know if anyone can shed light on. I noticed this in the main game as well and I was trying to see if it was tied to anything environmental or not, but every so often I hear a sound like a klaxon. It doesn't happen in combat nor as a precursor to it but seems to occur randomly throughout.

Isn't the klaxon indicating a bureau challenge?

Ah is that what it is? Bloody hell. That would make so much sense! I did wonder why the game never gave me some kind of notification one of those were kicking off.

Wonder if it's because I've got the missions disabled on the HUD I get no other notification besides the klaxon.

Oooh look at that ray tracing. I'd actually keep the 30fps purely for that tbh as I'm quite happy with the solid 30 I've been getting, and it means I get all those rays traced.

6 weeks or so. Can't wait. I've just man jammed all over my keyboard.

Feels like the current gen version running on my Series X is 60fps, or am I dreaming it? It's a night and day difference from my PS4 experience, that's for sure.

I only mention it, as I think if the RT means a drop to 30fps they can stick it up their arse and I"ll just play through it again now at 60. :D

I never played it without the RT stuff but the old house feels made for it, not just glass windows but all materials as you enter new parts of the house.

@Phattso Well the PS5 is definitely 30fps. Normally I wouldn't notice but because I'm juggling this and Demon's/Destiny (both at 60) I notice straight away.

Notice, but not bothered. I think it would be nice to play at 30 with all the ray tracing shit. That's me though. Bearing in mind I think it looks fucking amazing as it is now. I reckon even my eyeballs will vomit with joy. Jam everywhere.

I mean just look at the reflection in that fucking window.

It's definitely 30fps, but they have some pretty good motion blur in there, so it feels a bit smoother than usual.

Anyway, what's up with all the super reflective windows in games lately? I should get some in my room too.

Must be the fact that it's 4K at a locked 30 on the Series X that's fooling me. The PS4 version was most certainly not. :-D

    Amazing, thanks for posting.

Guess that’s me waiting until February.

I think I'll double-dip on the Ultimate Edition next time it's on sale (or right now if it's still on sale). Got the original for about £18 in a PS4 sale over the summer, so the same again for the two DLC packs plus the RT update feels fair.

Still grubby AF that people that bought the original near launch, and bought the season pass, are locked out without spending more cash though.

I've bought it again. I still think they're taking the piss but I love it and really want to experience the ray tracing mode and try it out in 60fps. It's always looked amazing when I've seen it running on PC.

That was my exact reasoning and in happy with that.

I do agree with your other point though. Poor show.

About as grubby as Rockstar last time we got a batch of new consoles.

Grubby is grubby. Doesn't matter if someone else is also grubby: they're grubby.

To be clear: I don't have an issue with them charging for the upgrade if they want. But the technical bullshit reason they gave for why it has to be this way stinks to high heaven. Of shit. From the bull. :)
