It made little sense too. The culmination of the story basically tries to be epic bit just feels so flat. The passing of the torch as well stuff is so out from left field. There's nothing built to suggest anyone is capable abd it tries to say too much without saying anything.

Tiny Tina can fuck off too. God only knows how she keeps winning favourite character polls.

    Torque is the man.

The humour just feels unimaginative and forced to me.

I just did a mission for Lorelai (you know she's English because she says "bollocks" a lot!), where she wanted me to get her a coffee. And the centrepiece is me going to a robot Starbucks, where the joke is that the robot barista talks like a hipster Starbucks employee. And... that's it. They speak like people, BUT THEY'RE ROBOTS. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT EH.

And there was another quest with some woman wanting me to find the people who killed her family. But her tone is really fucked up, like she doesn't even really care. "Oh... I guess you should go kill these guys or whatever, they murdered my whole family and stuff"

THEY KILLED YOUR FAMILY, WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO BE IRONIC AND FUNNY

Not that I'm against the mixing of seriousness and silliness (Yakuza does it all the time), but here it feels really poorly done.

Anyway, despite that I am mostly enjoying myself going around shooting things with ridiculous guns. I just wish I could enjoy the whole experience.

Yeah the gameplay mechanics are superb. You just have to ignore all the dialogue and story :/

I think a few here are wearing rose tinted glasses.

Borderlands 2 humour was very hit and miss. The only genuinely funny segment was the Torgues Campaign of Carnage DLC which was OTT hilarity.

Parts of Borderland 3 were very funny. The problem was the boring and whiny main bad guys who were not very well thought out. Also Borderlands 3 throws so many guns at you you just get fatigued with it all. Every 5 min guns are spat at you left right and centre it takes the fun away checking weapon stats and managing your inventory every 5min.

At least with Borderlands 1 & 2 there was a sense of exploration and discovery the sense you might find something great off the beaten track. There was genuine delight finding a weapons chest and seeing what might be in it. There's an early mission in Borderlands 3 where you are with Zero and break into a weapons depot and there's about 12 bloody weapons chests in there all full of crap, its just too much.

Another problem with Borderlands 3 was the planet hopping, the worlds felt like small levels rather than exploring a large planet. I can see why they did it for variety but they just felt small and enclosed and overly complicated at times. Its hard to get a feel of where you are at times as there is too much stuff crammed in. Even sanctuary your main ship/hub is overly complicated by its layout.

On the whole Better than 1 not as good as 2. More is sometimes less I hope they learn that for Borderlands 4.

But in its defence Borderlands 3 plays like dream looks gorgeous and and is well worth the money esp now at discount. I got the full game and all the DLC for £35 on PC.

Yeah absolutely. I've seen some people praising this because they can so relate to it, the theme of needing coffee to survive etc. That's fine, but I don't think that's what Borderlands was about. It used to be a total nuthouse where everyone's a psychopath murderer and you just roll with it and enjoy the show. In BL3 you have this "relatable" stuff, and what's a big no for me is how the player character comments on how weird people are. A big part of BL humour was that all of this was completely normal, just another regular day on Pandora, and I don't like how BL3 steps out of that and watches it from outside--the real world if you wish--in those situations.

It wasn't about issues that bother you at work in real life, or about hipster robots, which is funny because it's a robot but it's hipster right?

And there was another quest with some woman wanting me to find the people who killed her family. But her tone is really fucked up, like she doesn't even really care. "Oh... I guess you should go kill these guys or whatever, they murdered my whole family and stuff"

Yeah that one is really odd. But to be fair, I think that's the most extreme example of missed tone in the game.

Yeah it's fantastic with its crazy gunplay, and that's why I love it so much. Definitely a few steps up from its predecessors.

I disagree. I don't expect everyone to have my sense of humour, but for my liking it was almost the entirety of BL2 that was extremely funny. The jokes still made me laugh even after the 10th playthrough. Claptrap was great, Tannis was great, Tina was great, Scooter was great, Ellie (and everyone in her side questline) was great, Zed was great, and then of course there's the unmatched Handsome Jack.

I've played that game for over 1000 hours (right until BL3 came out) and still think it's the funniest game I've ever played, so I don't think it's rose-tinted glasses.

And tbh I can't see anything in BL3 that was very funny. At least in the main game, there's only that one side mission given by Ava that I found actually funny, but that was still no match for most of BL2.

    How annoying!?

So I 'upgraded' to the PS5 version of the game expecting to be able pick up where I left off and complete the DLC and (eventually) get the platinum trophy.

After a convoluted process for me to transfer my save to the PS5 version, I realised that both games have separate trophy lists and the trophies don't seem to carry over :/

What's worse is that I can't transfer my save back to the PS4 version and (apparently) transferring an updated save to the PS5 version overwrites the existing one...

After a bit of searching it appears that a few of the PS5 trophies are borked and we're maybe meant to carry over. The whole thing just seems broken :(

So my options seem to be to plough into the PS5 version, or carry on with the PS4 in the hope that Gearbox eventually fix the problem - assuming there actually is one and this isn't all intentional...)

PS - I know no one cares about trophies and I usually don't, but this has really irritated me. Why couldn't they have kept them as a single list across both consoles?

Because if you really cared about trophies, you'd get them for both versions. :D

@KRadiation - well it worked for me a few days ago, do I'd say so (although it does seem unnecessarily complicated...)

@OSS - yeah, if I really cared about trophies, I'd be pleased that there were 2 lists ;)

Holy shit the recent crossplay update has made this a juddery mess for me.

I've switched that off, but not sure it's helped much. Will need to try again later. Maybe it's just in the guns/tentacles dlc area, but it's rubbish.

Playing on series x too, so there should be more than enough grunt to run it.

Phew. Looks like the stuttering /lag is 'a thing' on series x. I was close to panicking after our oven's element blew and tripped the fusebox a few days ago and was worried the xbox had been damaged.
