    Hope.

    Isn't it a beautiful thing?
    For even in the depths of despair,
    a glimmer of joy...
    it can, still bring.

    Hope.

    I hope.

    I hope the brexit husband
    absolutely hates his remainer wife.
    I hope this has all taken decades
    from theresa may's fucking life.

    I hope all the idiot turkeys
    get the Christmas they desire;
    and the fallout from this results
    in the political reform we clearly require.

    I hope boris cunting johnson
    gets a cancer of the brain;
    so much so he can't even bring himself
    to utter the word 'remain'.
    (And spends his twilight years
    - along with his peers -
    dribbling and screaming "ABSTAIN".)

    I hope anyone involved in peddling
    the many lies that got us here,
    has a conscience approaching human
    - enough so remorse can even get near.

    I hope anyone genuinely thinking
    things are "looking pretty good"
    is the first involved, in any case,
    where this mess results in loss of blood.

    corbyn: can you just disappear up
    your own sanctimonious hole;
    A govt in complete disarray,
    and you can barely muster "meh" in a poll.

    And I hope gove and rees mogg...
    just die soon - to be frank.
    I can be arsed no more to even write anything,
    concerning this huge pile of wank.

    I hope you all suffer immensely.
    I hope you all regret lifting this lid.
    I know none of this will happen.
    But I can still hope.

    So I did.

    I would but I don't think they'll print it, for some reason.

    Read in the style of slam poetry, naturally, to amplify the cringe to the maximum level.

    Your word count is broken, my friend. I used to waste that many before even starting proper.

    It’s the textual equivalent of accidentally calling the teacher “mum” and having the entire class get embarrassed on your behalf.

    Oh boy. That was always a very confusing mistake to make. Especially when your teacher was a guy.

    I'd like to write the plot of a TV series about brexit one day. Probably they are already doing it in Hollywood

    I read this with Rick from the Young Ones in mind and was gently amused.

    I liked it…

    Oh yes, I thought that some of the metaphysical imagery was particularly effective...

    Oh…. and um, interesting rhythmic devices, too, which seemed to counterpoint the, er…

    Counterpoint the surrealism of the underlying metaphor of the, um…

    Humanity of the er... of the poet’s compassionate soul which contrived through the medium of the verse structure to sublimate this, transcend that and come to terms with the fundamental dichotomies of the other. And one is left with a profound and vivid insight into… err… into whatever it was...

    That the poem was about!

    Quality of the responses much as I'd expect from this place, favourite so far is Rick from The Young Ones; keep it up, everyone - top work, all round.
