Please don't let this be an April Fools. At the very least we need an R-type collection, Leo has no home version at all, Delta and Final are PS1 and PS2 only respectively.

Irem seemed to do it every year and mostly R-Type stuff, hopefully not this time.

One year it was a real life R-9 https://web.archive.org/web/20071009150924/http://www.irem.co.jp/contents/gallery/aprilfool_03/index.html

Really hope it's for real though this time.

There are a few that need a new home (but ain't getting one, sadly). Still pisses me off about 360 raiden fighters aces getting cancelled for a euro release. And Gradius V needs sorting out (though I'm hoping ps5 BC will).
Cave's 360 output would have had me purchasing a One if they were BC, too.

It is April Fool's Day right now in Japan and they go big on it over there.

However, this just doesn't look or feel like an April Fool to me. I'd expect something more outlandish in the preview if it were a fake.

Yeah, it's a bit too believable.

    Engaging anti hype thrusters.

If it is true, fuck them for releasing the details now.
    (Also, god love 'em).

I agree theres nothing really 'funny' about it. The screenshots look pretty believable too.

We should know by morning. Japan's pretty good at the "not beyond mid-day" thing, so if it's a hoax, they should have come clean by around 4AM UK time.

Confirmed that it was NOT an April Fool. Still subject to a crowdfunding campaign, though.

    Excellent.

Getting the game on actual physical disc is the next hurdle, fingers crossed that I get a nice boxed copy of R-Type Final 2: We Really Mean It This Time to go alongside my other R-Type games.

I supported this just to tell IREM that we need sequels for Raw Danger and Bumpy Trot.

    R-Type Final? Okay I guess...

Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 4+ released in Japan last year. Supports PSVR too. It's out in September on Switch too - not sure why it hasn't had a Western release date.

We didn't get the third one either, although being on PSP probably didn't help it. Reviews seemed a bit mixed for 4 bit I hope it does get localised otherwise I will have to import it (and Kyoei Toshi).

As for R-Type Final 2, I fear the physical release will be day one with the digital and thus a bit pointless with the staggered content release planned for it.

And in a weird plot twist, ZZT4+ / Disaster Report 4 / Raw Danger is now actually being localised and coming to the West sometime next year:

So I consider my money well spent. Bumpy Trot sequel next, please.

I think I remember the PS3 demo reel looked quire impressive when I saw it at TGS 2008.

Nice to see ZZT4 announced though but I expected it eventually. Kyoei Toshi sadly looks like I need to play it in Japanese as no Asian English copy ever surfaced and it was never goingto get to the west for licencing reasons

    Fantastic!

To think, we've been waiting on this for over ten years. Hopefully Bumpytrot gets rescued next, though I believe that's a bit of a long shot since it seems to have been much earlier in development than Disaster Report 4 when it got canned.

Nice to see the Disaster Report brand bought back to confuse people. Americans will be wondering what happened to 2 and 3, Europeans will be wondering what happened to the entire lot unless it's marketed as a sequel to SOS The Final Escape.
