Even after you get past the storm, the basic gameplay isn't great. You are supposed to use pinball techniques in a sort of hack and slash way, but it's less fun than it sounds, because the shooting controls won't work half the time.

@Paulanator was Split/Second not on games with gold recently? Appreciate that doesn't help those who missed it, but i imagine most have that permanently available now?

Split/Second was over a year ago on GwG (I must of missed it)

Helped my friend with the end with the end of the Blair witch game, (I binned my playthrough a week or 2 back) The game is awful, the dev team are one of the most over rated non-AA developers.

How dare you besmirch the name of Bloober Team, makers of that chicken game on Vita.

Iíve started to use my Sunday mornings to play Xbox - really just to dip into stuff that tickles my fancy on GP. If I like it Iíll either add it to my wishlist on PS4 or earmark it for the future on Xbox.

Dipped into Void Bastards this morning. Didnít know much about it other than a launch trailer I think, so the comic book style appealed.
Iíve ended up playing it on and off all day.

    @Derblington

This was the first game I've completed (not all acheivements, but reached 'the end') for a long time...

I'd seen it in 'Wireframe' magazine so it was on my radar and was chuffed to see it as a GamePass game. I think the art style helped - and the Manc accents.

Rogue-like games never really grabbed me previously but I found this snappy and compulsive.

Also, made me wonder if an open world Judge Dredd/Strontium Dog game with a strip art style could work

Just tried Dead Cells, and while I'm not a big fan of rogue like games, it's pretty good.

I very nearly have a few times, so I'm chuffed.

I had something of a passing interest in Jump Force as well, so I'll give that a look.

Great, I've been wanting to try Lego Worlds with the kids (who are both former Minecraft addicts but have since moved on to Lego City Undercover, among others).

    Jumpforce! Nice

Wanted to play but would have only paid a fiver so I figured I was just never going to play it.

And to think I had somewhat regretted not backing Bloodstained at the time, because it was cheaper. Good things come to those who wait.

Just played Bloodstained for a couple of hours and I don't know if its a getting old thing or what but I just don't get on with this style of game any more. The fact that I don't seem to be able to dodge anything properly, the hundreds of upgrades and related information just chucked at you from the beginning..I mean, is it supposed to be impossible to basically get out of the way of attacks at the start?

I've played for about an hour and it does seem pretty slow. Going back to Symphony of the Night, or any of the handheld Castlevania titles, they seemed faster and generally quicker on the approach. Maybe it's supposed to be more of a slow burner.

What I can't really get behind so far is the UI. Menus work real bad with the thumbstick (can't use the d-pad because my up button is slightly broken). Some deadzoning would help a great deal.

Just like Gears 5, Bloodstained is a Win32 exe rather than an app. I imagine this will become more common from now on, since it would let devs port over their games much more easily.

As for the game itself, I'm not quite feeling it... the metroidvania is okay, but level design seems pretty bad. And the recipes system is a mess.

About 4 hours in Bloodstained and enjoying it so far. I'm a big SOTN fan myself and by and large just feels more of the same to me. as you progress in the map, it feels like the general map layout out is an "homage" to symphony as well. There is too much bollocks like recipes and towns folk that do different things and side missions etc. Just ignored all that so far and have been getting on fine.
