I only ever saw The Black Hole at the cinema. Seem to remember it being pretty dark for a 10 year old kid.

Definitely going to give it a re-watch.

I remember being besotted with the original Pete's Dragon - sticker book a la Panini stuff, posters etc. I'm sure that watching that will destroy me so I may just try the remake!

Anyone noticed the brightness changing mid scene on The Mandalorian? Like it's flicking between gamma settings or something.

Imho, itís the only one of the recent Disney remakes that can justify its existence. Everything else is just a soulless, CGI photocopy but this actually did something interesting.

Yeah, think I mentioned that on the last page. You have an LG OLED too? I wondered if Iíd left a dynamic range option on but couldnít find anything. Very noticeable on the sky during the finale.

Think I saw something similar on iPlayer one time - maybe a streaming issue or a decoding hiccup. Didnít see it during Better Call Saul so I donít think it is a TV fault... hopefully. Not keen on returning a 65Ē OLED!

Just watched the second episode and it didn't do it. I'm guessing an issue with the Dolby Vision on the first episode.

Hopefully. Actually think all the services are holding up pretty well considering the extra load they must be under. Seen a couple of drops from UHD but still impressive.

So Jeff Goldblum looks like a person who might become completely unhinged by even the slightest thing...I wonder if that's all really an act?

Anyway, it's a great watch and he's great in it. Just hope he doesn't end up living in a cave or something in the coming years...

Disney isnít streaming at UHD now is it? I know they said they were doing a Netflix and decreasing the data rate in Europe.

Don't think that's kicked in everywhere/all users yet. Netflix was still UHD the other day

If the Dolby Vision logo kicks in does that mean UHD signal also received? Certainly the grain in SW:ANH looks like a 4K scan. But not sure. Certainly that flicker Decks and I saw may be DV dropping out?

Would be nice to see bit rate and res info like YouTube metadata. But, still blows away old DVDs!

I thought the quality of the Mandalorian was great although, despite the TV switching to HDR it all looked a smidge more washed out than Iíve seen from other sources.

I had the good fortune of meeting him once and he was definitely a character - and quite mental, but in a good humoured kind of way.

Obligatory pics or it didn't happen :-)

    Me dancing with Jeff:

Dolby Vision is just HDR which will still work on lower res. Everything has looked 4k to me though. Can't say I've noticed in any quality drop on Netflix either to be honest.

    That's great!

That's why I hope we won't lose him to the deep end. Though maybe he's always been like this and just hid it better years ago?

Am I correct that when using an LG C9, when the sound is in Dolby Atmos, you should get the icon at the top right just when a show is starting, like with Dolby Vision? It doesn't seem to be popping up for me. I tried a few shows too with the Atmos Tag on it and no joy.

I've had some pretty bad audio sync with this app on my Sony TV.

Yeah I had that on my C9, hopefully the source not the TV.

Watched the first episode of The Mandalorian and enjoyed it. Some ropey effects considering the budget but that 30 mins alone was better than many of the SW movies.

Shite. Mistakenly thought all mandalorian eps would be up. Guess not when there's a weeks trial on.

Now to wait for ep 3 on Friday, then another whole week between them. 🙁

    Also, Jawas are dicks.

I stopped after episode 5 and 6 were boring, pointless shite that went nowhere.
I'll force myself through the last 2 and hope it picks up again.

You didn't like Ep 6? I liked that one. The casting was suitably weird and a good example of how to re-use a single set...
