Agree with the comments on here re: the Simpsons. Absolutely unwatchable in its zoomed wide-screen format. Tolerable on my phone, but on the 55" TV it makes me feel a bit sick. Like playing an FPS on PC with the FOV set to 50. |

Strange, my receiver has never shown Atmos. Shows the DTS Neural X And Dolby Surround upmixing modes. Assumed that was because Atmos speakers are missing
Receiver should still state atmos - I can’t be arsed to move the Apple TV to test.
Edit: it looks like it's an eARC issue, my AVR doesn't support it, so it uses the Atmos metadata for Dolby Surround. There's also some question mark over LG's implementation of eARC, doesn't look like they provide lossless audio

Apple Music

Spotify for those that like it.
Each episode (they call them Chapters) has it’s own Album.

Mrs Maybe doesn’t like the idea of the 90s X-Men cartoon but I’m totally going to plot through it once I get the tv to myself -

Registered 1 year ago@RGeefe Netflix will go that way eventually. They spend 10s of millions on a show and it's a big deal for a weekend and then that's it. Once much of the world is on stream with Disney+ something like Mandalorian Season 2 will become much more of an event with its weekly format (like telly in the old days!)
Mandalorian already had weekly podcasts and discussions etc, loads of social media activity etc on a Friday night for season 1 in the US, very difficult to do that with the 'dump it all at once' format.
Also worth noting that the Netflix model is entirely unsustainable anyway, they have been rich with investor cash but have been nowhere near actually making enough money back to cover real costs, in real terms they lose billions per year. -

Registered 5 years ago@ukaskew37 trying to keep investors happy is why they do things like counting one seconds viewing as an entire series in their figures and shit like that.
They can’t possibly be making anywhere remotely close in subscriptions what they’d need to cover all the shows they create or buy in -

Registered 15 years agoI've really enjoyed both episodes of The Mandalorian. I noticed the sky flickering quite a bit in the first scenes of episode 2. I don't have a HDR-compatible TV, so fuck knows what the cause is. -

Registered 11 years agoFinally got up and running with this last night.
I've only watched Monsters University with the family so far, but I noticed a little judder at regular intervals, like it froze on a frame for a split second? Anyone else had that?
Was watching on PS4 if it makes a difference. -

Registered 11 years ago@SolidSCB Same - watching on PS4 and get that little judder every 30 seconds or so. Haven't tried on another device yet. -

Registered 8 years ago@SolidSCB I have been using the androidtv app and amazon firestick 4k app.
Not noticed any stuttering, have been generally impressed with the 4k stream quality. -

Registered 11 years agoIt isn't enough to make anything unwatchable, happens every few minutes for me and I don't think anyone else noticed. But the picky side of me would like it sorted before I actually pay anything for it. -

Registered 11 years agoFrom what I've read the PS4 app is considered to be pretty poor.
There doesn't seem to be an app for my Panasonic TV and I don't have any other streaming devices so I'll guess I'll have to miss out on that lovely content I've already seen. -

Yeah, that’s my main reason for using and external box like the apple tv for all apps. E/arc is fine for transmitting tv sound but its pretty limited outside of that

Registered 13 years agoHaving all The Simpsons is great, but I think The Simpsons is best enjoyed when you catch it on TV, rather than take the time to stream a particular episode! -
Watched SW Rogue One last night, looked stunning and it’s easily one of my favourite SW films. The picture quality made a real difference too - space battles and Scarif looked fantastic and the reflection of the hologram message in Jyn’s eyes was another level.
