I'm really impressed with the picture quality in general, seems a step up from Netflix and Amazon 4k. The HDR is fantastic.

What’s the designated day for new Mandalorian episodes?

This. I was toying with the idea of cancelling my 4K Skywalker saga box set but I still prefer physical media.

Might do a pass through some older (non SW/MCU stuff) stuff today.

The Black Hole, Ratatouille, Finding Nemo and Up are on the agenda.

Shame Flight of the Navigator isn't there...

Only saw John Carter the once, but must admit didn't think it was too bad.

Well I've taken the plunge, and as I haven't seen it before, Solo is a good place to start.

Been flicking through the Star Wars to see what the look like and weirdly the newer films seem to have worse picture quality than the originals and prequels.

I did notice a few shots that appear to be out of focus in Ep IV. Contrasted against adjacent cuts that look sharp. Seems there was similar grain present (so not a streaming issue) but maybe these 4K scans (not sure if scanned in 4k or just up-rezzed) show some of the deficiencies in the original print!

Rogue One in HDR did look like a step up from my BluRay release.

Haven’t watched those yet but TFA is on my list. Agree with @Barchetts about Rogue One. The high picture quality adds another layer.

Try that climbing video Free Solo too. The level of detail just adds to the terror.

I watched a bit of Last Jedi and there seemed to be a weird amount of film grain, so I flicked through Empire and it seemed a lot clearer, same with the prequels though thats understandable given they were digital. Checked TFA and that seemed to be overly grainy too.

So yeah that's how I spent my Saturday morning stuck in the house going slowly crazy. Next I will be checking the Cars trilogy.

Moana has been the one that's impressed me the most so far. The colours are just beautiful.

On Xbox One X, disabling HDR reverts the resolution to HD in Disney+. I guess they don't have 4K without HDR.

Might put Moana on tonight, depending if there’s any better offers on normal TV....

Yeah, Coco and Finding Nemo should look great on OLED. Deep blacks a vivid colour palettes. Shame some of the others yet to be 4k/HDR'd yet. Wouldn't mind checking out Inside Out again.

Just watched the Pixar short "TinToy" for first time decades..! Hadn't realised it before but the baby is indeed the spit of Sid in ToyStory.

Steamboat Willie is quite something. It was only after I noticed the description mentioned how times had changed…

I'm pretty sure that no-one in the Star Wars universe has had any tactical combat training. Still a fun watch though - it's a pain having to wait for the next episodes.

The PS4 app is shite. I've seen enough of my son's Cars on DVD to last a lifetime, and trying it on PS4 earlier the quality is a step down - a weird gentle judder to everything, and I'd almost swear it was a fraction slower.

Watched Hercules with my 5 year old today. Never seen it before and didn't expect Hades to start sucking on a massive cigar... times have indeed changed
