I was enjoying the trailer until the last bit, it feels like it undoes the all the efforts of the original trilogy (as does the whole 1st order).
Trailer looks good. Fuck the negative reactions. It's not even as though the original trilogy was the paragon of movie making.

Why would you even fly that tie interceptor that low to the ground? The sand you kick up is bound to scratch the fuck out of those solar panels.
Darth Vader would never jump over a tie fighter, he would just force grab it. What nonsense all this idiot action just for action sake. -

Just interested in the narrative is all, and in the wider scope of things; I'm interested in how a billion dollar company shapes a product to what it thinks its consumers want.

Registered 9 years agoI really liked the trailer. As it's a teaser does that mean we'll get a full trailer anytime soon? It was a hell of a long teaser.
Interesting the stuff that did and didn't link up with that leaked poster. No sign of that weird alien standing next to Finn or the Knights of Ren, but also there was no R2-D2 like in the poster.
I don't really know what to do about all the hates for the sequel trilogy, I really liked both films and the level of hate makes me think I must be missing something about the original trilogy or that I've just got bad taste, but I enjoy them still so ah well, easily pleased isn't a bad way to be.
(Although that being said I can't stand Attack of the Clones or Revenge of the Sith and some people seem to think Revenge of the Sith is a great film so I'm definitely missing something there). -

Registered 9 years agoI find it weird that people think of films as 'ruining' things as if it affects them. Like Godfather 3 doesn't affect 1 or 2, The Hobbit trilogy doesn't make LOTR worse - it's just something you like that has a connection to something you don't. I get you can be disappointed if you are looking forward to it, but this is different, it's like a real hatred for people making something new. -

For me there’s a difference between delineated sequels and episodes of a bigger narrative. I don’t care about shit Jaws/Die Hard/Superman films, but with Star Wars they’re messing with the story arc. Yes, you can ignore them, but it’s not quite the same thing. -

Depends - highlighting a poor aspect of the parts you did like but could ignore can affect your enjoyment. Like when someone points out an annoying buzz you hadn't clocked yet.

Registered 14 years agoFor me it's the feeling that these films simply didn't have to be made, the story has been told, although the first 2 were perfectly entertaining.
Half of that effort (and money) could have been put into 100 new low budget projects / ideas, and guaranteed a few box office smashes as well as some critical hits thrown in for good measure. Although I suppose studios do this already.

Hmm, apparently something based on KotOR is in the making. People are guessing a new trilogy but Disney's being extremely vague for now. -

I agree. It seemed as if they went for a safe option by borrowing a bunch of ideas from the original trilogy, but having no real great ideas to push forward and make something that had an engaging plot.

They’re all perfectly watchable, but to me it’s not something I’ll go back to every now and then (like I mentioned about the prequels).
