Didn't get what you meant by that until I noticed who the lazy bastard was with that other thread. Much like his food. Wank effort.

Registered 9 years agoBackwards compatibility, PSVR compatibility and physical media. All I really need is significant Japanese support early on from my favourites (From Software, Platinum, Team Ninja). I do think there's a possibility it's gonna be £425 / 500 euros though.

Registered 15 years agoBack compatibility is a huge plus. The exotic tech used for the PS3 made this very difficult to offer on subsequent consoles, but nice that the PS4->PS5 transition should be smoother. New consoles don't tend to have fantastic libraries for the first 18 months or so (I used my launch-purchase PS3 far more for playing PS2 than PS3 games over that period). It also implies - though falls short of full confirmation, I guess - that we'll get another console generation without region-locking. The further that gets consigned into the dustbin of history, the happier I'll be (MS originally intended to implement it on the XB1 but later relented). -

Registered 15 years agoThey've apparently ruled out a 2019 launch. Possible they might go for a launch in early 2020 to make the end of FY19/20, but I suspect mid-late 2020 is more likely. -

Registered 14 years agoEvery generation I'm excited by the thoughts of a new generation! I'm eagerly devouring every detail. The hype builds. Shots of amazing graphics it will have and my excitement grows but this time I just couldn't care less. I won't be getting it, or at least, not any time soon.
The reason is the direction of the game industry. I never buy anything put out by the big AAA publishers. They simply do not produce anything I am interested in. They can fuck right off with their cold soulless cookie cutter open worlds with it' tiresome busy work. Games as a service... "Micro" transactions and season passes. Games are art or at least an art form. They have to come from the heart and be built with passion and creativity. Nothing produced by the big companies are worth my time and I can see it only getting worse. They can fuck off with their skinner boxes designed by accountants.
Indie games are where it's at for me. Games with imagination, flair, style, full of wonderful concepts that are built by gamers for gamers for the love of the thing they do. And these games are not stuffed to the gills with micro transactions or season passes or shitty over prices DLC. In fact a lot of Indy games provide amazing updates for FREE. They don't try and squeeze every last penny from my wallet. The big game publishers are a cancer.
Indy games have no need of massive specced out hardware. The only ones that are pushing high end graphics are the big AAA boys so for that reason I have no reason to upgrade. A good chunk of indie games today could run fine on a PS3. So as they say on Dragon's Den, I'm out.

Registered 12 years agoAside from the obvious improvements, I hope they get rid of the silly light-bar on the pad and favour battery life on the controller. Probably been my biggest bugbear this gen. -

An option to switch it off rather than just dim it?
Throw me a bone here. I remember the days when the 'battery low' message on the DS3 was a gentle reminder to plug your pad in at some point within the next 3 months.
