Worrying your character isn't going to cling to the right platform or drop down from a ledge away from danger correctly in time isn't something I think I should be panicking about in 2021.
Some very poor frame drops during set piecey bits too. Not the worst game I've ever played but I was expecting a bit of a more modern twist on the formula.

I know Soulstorm is meant to be a re imaging of Exodus isn't it?
I never got round to playing Strangers wrath or Munch. So i just grabbed them on steam! -

Registered 12 years agoI'm not much on the lore but I think it's supposed to be a reimagining of Exoddus yeah.
It's not terrible but for a game that requires a bit of precision and quick thinking to get through encounters unscathed it feels clunky as fuck, which might have washed 25 years ago but now it just feels lame. -

Registered 16 years agoDoes anyone know why I get an error telling me to free 13.6 GB on the *console* storage while trying to download a 25 GB PS4 game to my 4 TB external hard drive (the storage setting is set to install all PS4 games to the external hard drive, by the way)?
The weird thing is that if I select the Manage Storage option then it takes me to the external storage which already has 187 GB free!!! Why does it need 210 GB for a 25 GB game? The message tells me to free space on the console storage (internal SSD), which does only have 15 GB free, but why does it need space on there when I am downloading it to the external drive???
This seems to be a bug that started with the last firmware update (which incidentally did not fix the annoying bug where deleted PS4 games leave an unremovable generic grey icon to the right of the PS Store on the dashboard). These bugs on the PS5 are really starting to annoy me and Sony aren't exactly rolling out constant updates to address them. -

Registered 8 years agoOddworld Soulstorm is a bit dull isn’t it? In fact it’s a series that continues to baffle me why so many like it. It’s just really crap platforming, with boring puzzles. That’s my review. (I’d be shit at reviews) -

Registered 12 years agoThink it basically lives off being an early PS1 hit. I'm trying to like it but it's intentional old school clunkiness is making a few sections a thoroughly miserable chore already, and I'm only on the 4th level. -

Sony do a lot of stuff right but this kind of stuff really does irk me along with the still locked out internal SSD expansion and the continued lack of support for VRR and ALLM. At least Microsoft know how to do this sort of thing properly... -

Registered 18 years agoIt’s alright, pretty much how I felt about previous oddworld games.. It almost got It’s hooks in me but I turned it off after the first level, one for fans only I think.
Still thoroughly enjoying Sackboy, that’s far better. -

Registered 14 years agoI gave it a fairly quick go last night, I think I did 2 or 3 levels. I quite enjoyed it. I feel like the platforming works well, it is a more deliberate style but the double jump makes it fairly forgiving. There are loads of checkpoints so trial and error is ok.
The sections where you absolutely must try to sneak around and/or hit dudes with the flammable goo are probably the least enjoyable. Possessing the waspy gun guys and running them into bombs remains fun.
Overall I quite like it so far but not sure how much staying power it will have. -
