I'm not sure that source could be any more questionable if the twitter account source started by tweeting "My uncle works at Nintendo and he said this stuff", which would be the wrong company for a start. It's from the 19th of June so it's not even a new rumour.

He's a rumour shotgun, blasting out info in the hope something hits. Like all similar "leakers" he'll then latch onto anything he accidentally got right and claim he really did know something, but all the other stuff he got wrong must've changed for some reason. Most of his guesses are relatively plausible because they're in the same region everyone else is guessing.

Or maybe it's all true. Who knows :p

If it really is that much cheaper then I'll go digital as well.
Might seem like a stupid question but I assume it comes with the controller?

If it's £350 for the digital edition I can hopefully flog my Pro for £150 and have a fairly affordable jump in to next gen.

This DF article had some thoughts about the discount they might offer on a digital only version.

@creepiest-lizard Yes, it will of course include the controller. The Astro Bot demo that they showed a couple of weeks ago is there to actually demo the new features of the DualSense controller.

I still won't. I have games I'm certain will be able to run on the PS5, possibly with better visuals/performance. As they are physical copies, I'll need a drive to put them into.

I rarely, if ever, replay games and most of my ps4 games are already digital so it wouldn't really be an issue for me but I could imagine most people would go for the drive model.

If it's 100 cheaper I think a lot of people will switch.
At some point you're going to have make the jump anyway.

We're still a gen away from a fully digital console that caters to the majority so they've made the right choice offering both. I'll definitely be getting a disc one as having the option to re-install classics on the fly makes it worth paying a little extra.

Iíve been saying this for a while, they can make so much more money from selling you digital games that the difference between the two is going to be more than £50.

Still think I'll go with the disc version. New games are 10-15 quid more on PSN and I've been kind of wanting to buy a 4j Blu-ray player anyway.

Flog them on eBay and keep your eye on PSN sales. I got Horizon Zero Dawn complete edition for a tenner on PSN last week for example.

Be interesting to see what the difference in sales is. Much prefer disc versions as at least you have that option and the best of both worlds when it comes to when the sales are on.

True, but I'll jump when I have to, don't see any reason to jump now if I can get still a game cheaper than on the store.

I presume I can copy everything off my internal 2TB drive onto an external, plug it into the PS5 and then go? Or have the option of which games to put onto the internal drive?

Hopefully! Redownloading all those games would be a right pain.

It's rare I buy a game on a disc these days so I'll opt for the digital version.

I still use boomerang game rentals so disc still for me. Hopefully there's a decent bundle with the headset.

Are they selling a black version at launch too?

Disc for me too. Whatever you save on buying digital will soon be lost on the extra cost of games.

Hopefully Sony will confirm that steering wheels will carry over from PS4.

Jim Ryan said they have more games to show, I wonder if they actually have, or that they'll just show more of the games we've seen so far. Whatever it is I guess they will be looking to kill off any excitement that Xbox drum up for their game reveal.

The generations who'll have to live with landfills full of completely pointless plastic discs thank you for your consideration.

The environmental impact is a great point. Iíd love to be able to buy everything free of oil based plastic. If they made it possible to sell/trade digital copies Iíd make the switch right away.

The PS5 is stuffed full at purchase - itís why the form is so big. Every time you launch a title it will push one out through the vent onto your carpet.

I believe there's a scratch and sniff card with every Ps5 purchase and every scent is sampled from the UK's busiest CEX stores.
