It's just an odd game at the moment. I watched a team spooky stream last week where sonicfox pretty much won an entire tournament abusing throw with Geras.

He just let everyone throw out whatever and then threw them. Over and over and over. I know he's a genius but it does make you wonder why you bother.

SonicFox is something else entirely, but it doesn't help he's playing broken, busted tier characters.

But when playing is your job, why would you use anything weaker I guess.

Edit: His DBFZ track record is the same as well. Don't get me started on the silliness that is Bardock.

He also switched to erron black and spammed the jump kick thing almost as a taunt to NRS.

His F4, yeah. It's an overhead, that's plus on block, that he can meter burn into a low, and shares the same start up animation as BF3 which is his low slide.

The character was designed by clowns.

I can't really be arsed fucking about with the variations. It's so horribly clunky and badly put together as to be more laborious than it's worth.

I'm like Addy, I don't play online anyway and am probably going to fuck it off after seeing all the character endings.

To a much milder extent, last week I had a wonderfully laggy game against a baraka who just alternated between that overhead lunge and his command throw which look exactly the fucking same.

This is the plan. I don't think I did all the sp content on mkx either. It's just one of those games I return to from time to time when I want to kick some one's heart out. Rage 2 next week so I imagine it will get dropped for a while then.

I don't think I've actually looked at the ToT yet. Oh and the krypt is ok to mooch around in...or it would be if I have a shit about any of the 'loot'

Hats can be fun user Rivizu.

I agree there is too much useless shit like augments and consumables, I dont mind unlocking gear but I would rather do it for coins so I can get the shit I want without rng.

I saw that too, in the first match he played he just spammed throw again and again and even the commentators they couldn't believe they were part of Geras' throws as the damage output was stupidly high.

That's because it's an inescapable mixup that Geras has.

If you block the jumping 3/4, then you cannot move because of negative frames to evade the command grab. You can't break out of the command grab either.

And if you get hit by the jumping 3/4, you can hit confirm into a full combo with Geras.

Your only option to beat that is to backstep/anti-air or Flawless Block+U2/3 it on the jump in, which needs frame perfect blocks to succeed.

Flawless block is much too hard. Just have a parry that takes defensive bar if you're going in that direction.

Offline it's hard. Online it's impossible.

A friend plays Erron Black, so I spent an hour trying to learn the timing to Flawless Block F4 in training mode - only to discover that half the cast can't even punish it with a reversal anyway because he's lying on the floor.

DUMB GAME.

That pretty much sums me up with Mortal Kombat. I've never really put much time into them, but I always enjoy picking up whatever the latest one is just to punch faces in for an hour or so then I go back to other games.

So can't say I ever really notice all the stuff they get wrong as I'm usually firmly in the "stick on medium and blast through an arcade tower ever few days" type of player.

I think I only bought XL because it had Leatherface and Jason in it via the dlc.

I can't work out why they decided to drop the towers that were introduced in MK9. They were fun and had some good variety. I've been playing through the vita version again.

It was one tower that had 300 challenges (I think) with different conditions and mods on some of them.
You went through the roster doing several with each one. Stuff like:

Win with special moves disabled
Destroy X amount of zombies with projectiles
Handicap 2 Vs 1 matchups

Etc etc.

I would agree gameplay wise it's the best iteration of the game, however that's faint praise. The SP element is just so exhastingly un fun and the boss fight is a singularly joyless affair. Other than unlocking the character specific towers I don't see much point progressing. I find the Krypt to be an utter chore. That's not how it should be.

As for the gameplay, the slower pace is fun but makes characters like Scorpion even worse to fight against. Having to spend almost the entire match blocking in anticipation of that damn teleport punch...not good times.

The new characters are a bit bleh. The Kollector is just a confusing mess and he's awful to play against. Cetrion is ok, but will be forgotten next time. Geras has some interesting ideas, but none of them made the grade. The whole variation system is a wonderful idea piss poorly implemented. In fact theat they force you to pick rom 2 'official' (and untested) variations makes no sense whatsoever. It's utterly counter productive.

And amidst all this, they coudln't come up with more than 2, fairly dull, fatalities per character? Really? They're all the same boring blood and guts crap. With a few notable exceptions (cetrion).

Flawless block is too hard and online will be largely wasted because of lag and frame loss. Seems a wasted opportunity.

@Addy__ Sorry forgot to reply. Yes, I remember now! That was brilliant actually. I don't think I got particularly far mind you (around the 80 - 90 mark) but it was really good fun.
