Looks good to me. Will probably get this day 1 if reviews are ok. I don't need no 9/10 scores.

@DUFFMAN5 TLoU2 is looking more and more like a PS5 launch title.

Bastards! I had planned on sticking to Nextbox for the next round, Gears and all that but I have bought a console for one game before!

@DUFFMAN5 It's not confirmed but if the PS5 is released next year as expected they will probably hold it back although releasing for both PS4 and 5 is a possibility.

With added instafail stealth I think you meant to add. ;)

If possible, the "VIP" should move at the slowest pace possible to heighten that tension.

30 hours of life including 6 hours of cutscene? So we only have 24h?

I always manage at least 50% more than times given. Not trying to prolong, it just always seems to take me longer!

If it is "only" 24-30" hours, as long as good that is fine and around £2 per hour. That is good value to me.

@DUFFMAN5 Yea I try to get as much out of any open world game as possible and generally do far more than the promoted timeframe.

30 hours is pushing it for me these days, and sounds a lot for this kind of game, but still, if its good I'll take a nosey.

Early word from folks such as Game Informer seems to suggest a decent 6 or 7/10 game. Lots of talk about it being copy & paste from other similar games in the genre with the hordes being the only slightly unique gameplay element.

Basically 3rd-person Far Cry with zombies........so not massively original, but good news if you like these sort of games I guess.

It has 6/7 written all over it. Thereís so much to play Iím not sure I can be bothered spending the hours on 6/7 any more.

The copy & paste features has been the word for over a year, probably two. The unique aspects are the horde systems in the open world and the narrative.

I've seen enough recently to know that I'll enjoy what it is, flawed as it may be. It'd be great if the open world systems were different than the way they are commonly done but it's not a negative so much as it's just not new.

Frankly, on paper, it's the same breakdown of pros (dino fights, pretty) and cons (the rest) as Horizon, yet the world went nuts over that one being fantastic.

That world was the 'new' in Horizon though (yes, we've seen colourful takes on a post apocalypse before, but the setting had enough going for it that it felt pretty fresh), whereas Days Gone looks a bit like a grimdark Sons of Anarchy + zombies.

I realise that's probably reductive, and I haven't been following this at all so I might be off base - but that's kind of the point. The setting has done nothing to draw me in.

I'm sure it's going to be a polished, well-made game, but I just don't really care about zombies anymore. And as others have said, Deacon St John, ffs.

I'll give it a go as I only really bother with single player games and it does look great visually.. I have to agree on the criticism of the premise / setting though, they're clearly talented developers and I'd much rather they'd gone in a different direction instead of ultra violence and the zombie apocalypse, as it's been done to death.. literally ;)

Nah, it's not really that reductive. The original internal pitch was Sons of Anarchy meets The Walking Dead. They changed them from zombies to "Freakers" - they aren't undead, they're infected living folk - but ultimately that doesn't really change anything.

I'm not expecting magic but Bend make very solid games and the Freaker gameplay systems sound decent and look quit imposing. I'm hoping there's some fun combat scenarios to be had, and a decent narrative to tie it together.

Fair enough :) Thing is, that'll really do it for some people. My brother, for instance, who rides bikes, likes SoA, and watched TWD for a while. It's just doing nothing for me personally.

As I say though, I'm sure it'll be solid at least. Might be something to pick up if I ever get through The Backlog.

So we get reviews today, anyone holding off buying until they read some. I don't usually buy or not buy (at least at full price) based on professional reviews but I am with this.
Saying that if ACG says "buy now" that will do for me ;)

Yeah I'm holding off until I see the reviews, couldn't find anywhere which was selling it for under 48 quid. I can manage with generic as long as it's got a decent story and plays well.

I think this will be one of the first big Sony exclusive AAA title for a good while that will get boarderline average / poor reviews. I've heard a few people that went to preview events that said it's very bland, very generic and once the novelty of the zombies wears off, it's not got much else to it- which is more or less the feeling I've got from it.

I watched a few streams of this last night, and it seems pretty much like TLOU meets Far Cry. I kind of tempted now, as it looks fun.

This is what I hope and assume it is, which sounds great for me. I took the plunge mostly on the basis of that and it's made by the Syphon Filter guys so want to support it. If it's pap then nay bother, will simply trade in.
