I was finding this pretty challenging and I was avoiding most freaker stuff. However I just purchased the pump action shotgun and it has switched it to easy mode. :).

Good that you are enjoying now. The stubby is a great side arm for when you have to chase down motorcycle gangs.
My special weapon of choice is the lvl 4 machine gun thing, which I can't get at any camps yet as I'm only lvl 2 and maybe lvl 3 in one of them.

But I got it if a dead enemy a while ago!

Iíve not tried those, I tend to stick with a pistol as itís fairly accurate and ammo isnít too hard to come by, going into slowmo and popping headsets when being chased down is very satisfying.

I've mostly forgot about slow down to be honest! Need to start as it can be tricky.

Oh itís a must for taking down small groups, makes headshots much easier and therefore saves you plenty of ammo. Also slowmo is never not satisfying and no less here as the zombie baring down on you slumps at your feet. You would need to pump at least a couple of points into it though.

Soooo glad I didn't sell. Had two excellent missions in a row. One was to find something in a house then when I was leaving for the bike I turned a corner into a horde! Screamed a little, threw a pipe bomb at my feet and managed to roll off a small ledge and get to the bike.

Then just did a standard side quest clear a camp thing but just before I started my attack I noticed maybe 8-10 freakers so instead I threw a noise making and just stood on the hill watching the battle. When it was over there were only three left to kill to clear the camp. :)

I've mixed my points between gun and melee. Now I'm many hours in I know it's all about buffing your melee skills.

Did you get the game I posted, hopefully mate 😉
Enjoy Days Gone mate, while lacking a fair amount of polish, it is still a lot of fun.

Yeah I'm in the mood for an open worlder and this really appeals. Will be giving it a whirl in an hour or so.

Cool, donít forget the 12.8gb patch thatís dropped this afternoon............
Approach it more as an open ended action/adventure and youíll get on fine. Itís got a touch of the uncharted/tlou et all about it.

Recently theyíve been fixed and adding the challenges, this one just states bug fixes so yeah, still working their way down that list I guess.
  • Deleted user 10 August 2019 00:28:42
Had say 90 mins on it. Liking it so far. Love the verticality of the game world thus far. Definitely reminds me of tlou in tone as well. Only done a few missions which really are just introducing the various mechanics as is the norm. Will try and get some more hours in over the weekend and see what happens.

I love that there are kid freakers and there are women in the gangs that you can kill them. Soooo many games only have men to kill.

I'm rather confused by the reviews I read when this came out but I'm learning to ignoring the gaming media and listen to YouTube reviewers. Most of the media reviews spent their time moaning that decon was a white male and he was a sexist pig for wanting to get people who shoot women.

Reading you all playing this is making me want to do a new playthrough on Survival difficulty.
I'm not sure I want to spend the 30 hours it takes tho.
  • Deleted user 12 August 2019 00:58:10
Really enjoying it so far. Spent a couple of hours on it earlier and barely felt like I did much. I spent ages mooching around the cemetery trying to find the last bloody nest. I've also cleared a couple of problem areas.

    :)
It is a long game with many story paths woven in or at least it appears as such. Can't find an in game timer, why don't all games have these!

Just did a very long story mission where I end up getting caught, half way through it probably the best one so far.

I like the drop feed of new things as well.

A good few hours today. Defeated my first Horde...on day 826 no less! It was brilliant fun and somewhat drawn out, but that made it so rewarding :)
Also story wise, I have a mission now where it locks out xxxxx so I'm not taking that just yet, have various things to do.

Looking forward to getting stuck into this tonight. Now I've upgraded loads I might bump up the difficulty. I was struggling at first but now feel like a god.

It's temporary, but the game doesn't explain it. You still have quite a bit left to go.

You get access to everything at end game.

    @Derblington
Yeah, cheers Derbs, I thought as much, but didn't want to check in case of spoilers. Really enjoying this, might actually end up being one of my games of the year.Re a good bit to go, it certainly is not stingy with content and game length!

It does have issues, the audio soundbites cut in all over the place and not necessarily in the right order ;)
the enemies can be somewhat bullet spongy (playing on normal) but it also does a lot of things right.

What is the reference for the collecting ears trophy (I got that yesterday) ? I assume as it is so specific it must have a reason. Is it to do with Left4Dead ? or a different Zombie game. I did read about a couple of companies referencing each others games this way.

Reference? It has an in-game lore - you collect ears from dead freakers and sell them for bounty in camps for camp credits. St John is a bounty hunter - that's his job in the world of Days Gone.

Think he means that the trophy has a specific number of ears to collect to achieve it. I believe thatís what heís asking about?
