does the aiming and moving get less sluggish as you level up?

You do unlock combat upgrades and aiming whilst moving is one of them.

Some of the mid-late game guns are much more accurate too, plus Deacon's slo-mo upgrade and stuff. It all becomes far more manageable.

I personally think the combat is very good. Some areas of the game are rough but I wouldn't say combat is one of them.

I wish I could jack the gyro sensitivity right up to splatoon 2 levels

I'm not sure that would work for this sort of game, it's supposed to be slow and deliberate. You're heavily encouraged to use stealth and set traps to pick off individual enemies.

I upgraded melee quite early (and melee weapon maintenance), so that you can one hit kill normal zombies. Then make sure that you take good care of your Ripper axe, or whatever, so that it doesn't break.

The later guns are much better though, and I agree that I wish the gyro aiming allowed for higher sensitivity. Max gyro wasn't enough for me coming from using it in Killzone Mercenary.

@tadejpogacar I did that last night too! Died a few times trying and then saw the water tower on the other side of the lake. I led them there, climbed the ladder and threw molotovs at them as they swarmed at the bottom.

I'm quite impressed with the multitude of strategies available. I looked it up afterwards and it seems shooting the tanker truck would have been helpful too.

The game has quite a pronounced sense of progression in terms of guns, aiming, focus, stamina etc. All improve hugely with a series of upgrades and make previously impossible hordes and situations relatively straightforward. In fact, some smaller hordes become rather easy when you have access to the full suite of guns and other weapons. This is one of the more satisfying aspects of Days Gone.

I'm enjoying it - especially for the price. it has its issues but it is comfortingly generic on the whole

I could legit play a full game of doing nothing but dealing with the Hordes. Always feels really irritating when I get pulled back into the story or have to listen to Deacon just rant to himself whilst clearing an outpost

I must admit, I had decided at release that I was going to avoid this game, all thanks to harsh reviews from critics.

I'm actually really enjoying it and glad I gave it the benefit of the doubt. It's decent and certainly underrated.

Just started this. Its awesome. Looks very pretty as well.

Thats all Ive got to say so far. Just a few hours in.

See if my younger self had been presented with the likes of this or dying light, nice looking open worlds full of zombies and shit you can ride? Well... My tiny head would have just sank in to my body and rolled out my arse in delight.

had an amazing horde kill yesterday where the horde was sheltering inside a cabin during the daytime - chucked in a gas can, followed by a molotov... only took one clip to finish off the remainder. felt kinda badass even if it was only one of the smaller hordes

some of the bigger hordes I've seen in footage look intense

got the automatic sidearm now too (for killing 4 hordes) which is a nice buff

Iím enjoying this too, donít think it deserved the negative reaction at release. Drawing zombies towards a camp so they can help with the clearing is a nice twist, and motorbikes are cool.

It's bloody good. Went to clear a camp last night and saw their numbers suddenly start to drop. Peeked over a rock and a horde of Freakers had heard the gun fire and were swarming into the camp. I shat myself. I also don't mind the main character at all, quite like him in fact. This is a case of I listened too much to reviews so never bothered with it, when in fact it's right up my street.

Yeah, same here. It always looked like my sort of thing but I decided against it because of the reviews. Iíve parked it for now whilst I play The Last of Us but Iíve been enjoying it.

It's a strange thing to appreciate, but I love the menu design and navigation in this game. They're so clean, aesthetically, and make great use of the touchpad.

Two hordes done now. Finding high places has been my go-to survival tactic, even if it's just the roof of a shed.

I've not really seen much in the way of hordes yet, apart from that one that scared the crap out of me when it ran into the camp. I take it I'll be itroduced ot them properly at some point?

Yeah the UI is really floating my boat as well. I only started it to kill some time til I was ready to get TLOU2 but I've been quite addicted the last few days. The combat is well done, the stealth works fine (it's not the best, but it still works) and melee is nice and visceral. It's on a par with Dying Light for me. A bit rough round the edges but ticks all the right boxes where it counts.

Iíve been piling all of my nero upgrades into focus - seems like stamina would be useful for hordes but focus is pretty crucial also

I think some of the hordes are introduced as boss battles through the main story missions. Iíve just randomly stumbled into them as Iíve gone about my business tho. always pretty hairy if youíre not well stocked with explosives

Using an LMG when you have the Bullet Penetration Skill is making Hordes a little toothless now. Done about 20 of them AND cleared out the Sawmill before realising it was only a pseudo horde (destroying doesn't count towards progress and the game treats it as still active in cutscenes)

I've picked stamina every time. Perhaps I should start buffing focus next time.

I've popped two in each so far. Although I might start boosting stamina for a bit as I'm forever running away from shit.
