@Frogofdoom Really. Fair enough if it didn't engage you but "utter shite" No way. Gunplay was totally solid and powers were great. Characters were fun. You must have had an idea what you were going to be playing? So your critique must be based on the genre of Game and not just the fact it was one of the worse games you have played this year. For example I would put JC3, 4 in the same genre as Rage 2 and they are very poor in comparison. I know they were not released this year (4?) Just curious but what games do you place below this in. |

Registered 9 years agoI thought the pad controls weren't great and I'm not the only one, there is something wrong with the way they have done them, the deazone is far too big. The enemies were dull and uninspiring and the world was empty and a total waste of an open world. Looking around the camps for boxes wasnt great either and the driving was terrible. It's not even close being in the same bracket as doom which I would put in the same genre because the open world in rage is just tacked on and completely unnecessary. The guns were decent though.

Registered 8 years agoThe shooting was excellent but like Frog says it was a waste of an open world, if it was a linear shooter I think it would have been better -

Registered 7 years agoCurrently playing this and cannot decide whether to abandon or continue. I am quite deep into the story I think, doing stuff for that woman mayor. Must say I agree with Frog on certain points, some enemies I find really out of place (Crushers? WTF?) and looking for those Arks and ark chests and stuff gets tedious fast. And it takes a lot of time I mean A LOT. OTOH I enjoy the environment, and driving is solid imho. I was similarly indecisive about Mad Max (which is roughly the same game) but eventually completed it. But that game had much less busywork... Really don't know. Will I be powerful enough at the end if I start to ignore all the side quests? I presume the final boss is the Cross guy? -

The game is relative short if you stick to the story and ignore the side missions. All I say about the final encounter - is that it is a bit jarring in difficulty. Considering most fights you feel overpowered pretty early on.

Registered 14 years agoI had it on the go at the same time as Far Cry New Dawn which was perhaps a poor choice as they are both almost the same game, but I had loads more fun with New Dawn; it was just loads more fun, the characters were better and open world was full of stuff to do. Rage 2 was pretty boring by comparison. It wasn't bad but I will never play it again. 6/10 -

I keep toying with getting New Dawn, as it is the only FC game/experience I have yet to play. I thought 5 was pretty weak overall. -

Registered 14 years ago@DUFFMAN5 I actually quite liked 5 but if you didn't like it I wouldn't bother with New Dawn, it's really more of the same but with a Rage 2 esque spin, right down to the random resource drops and even the colour scheme! -

Cheers mate, wise words which I will try to listen to
I'm just downloading LOTR Shadow of War from GP so that will keep me busy for a while.
Gamepass has been brilliant so far. I think 5 of my last 6 games have come via it.
Re FC. I think Primal may be my fav.

Registered 18 years agoJust started this after being a freebie on EGS. Quite conflicted about whether to carry on. The opening prologue section was garbage. Such awful dialogue and scene setting. Ironically for an id game, the exact reason Doomguy just punches anything that attempts to spew narrative or lore.
Anyway, playing with controller from sofa as thought would be a nice mindless game. I thought the controller felt off - kinda laggy - and glad to see I'm not the only one judging by previous comments in here. Might have to go M+KB.
The two guns I've got do feel great though. Very punchy. And it seems more interesting now I've got the car. Think I might just plough through it without taking many detours. -

Admittedly I didn't get hugely far into it before binning it off, but I didn't get the sense things were improving. -

Registered 17 years agoThe id design for weapons and impact are all present and correct, so that aspect does feel good. The game around it isn’t anything to write home about, but if you just want to put bullets into meat then it’s got you covered. -

Registered 16 years agoI completed it back when it first released, but seem to remember it came out during a quiet spell. Liked the weapons, though everything else was middling at best. -

Registered 20 years agoReminded me a bit of Mad Max, with guns and gunplay but with a less cohesive/interesting world and story.
Might revisit on Game Pass to see how it performs on XSX -

Registered 18 years agoI used some recommended controllers sensitivity settings I dug out of Reddit and that improved things. I thought I was having some fun for hour or so there. Then I cleared out a bandit camp and have spent five minutes looking for a chest to classify it as 'complete'. I think life might be too short for this game... -

I can see the Just Cause DNA in there. Guess it shows that it was co-developed by Avalanche.

Registered 18 years agoOh I didn't realise it was co-developed by them. I've only played one Just Cause game briefly, but I can see the influences clearly. Even the propane canisters twirl into the air in a similar fashion when you shoot them.
Another thought: the graphics seem oddly poor to me. Not sure if Cyberpunk has completely spoiled me, but it looks a bit flat maybe? The character models are particularly crap Weirdly I almost feel like the first Rage looked better. But it's probably because that was brand new tech back then and this doesn't really feel like it's pushed the envelope. Certainly prefer the atmosphere of the first one. -
Different engine too. This one is not using id Tech, but the Avalanche Engine, the same one used for JC3.
Yeah, I said it was co-developed by Avalanche, but I'm pretty sure it was almost entirely developed by them, with id Software merely overseeing the project.
