| I feel like VR is a platform in its own right and especially with the Quest on its way it would be good to have a VR specific section. Not only would it save us from trawling through various other sections trying to find the thread we wanted, but it might expose more people who are reading the forum to the excitement surrounding VR, and that's good for everyone! |
VR Needs its own section in the forum!

Registered 17 years agoA new forum section would help move all the PC master race and VR dead-enders out of the regular threads. -

Registered 9 years agoAs an owner of a vr headset I reckon I have an informed enough view. I have also shown it to a load of people that either feel sick and dont want another go or says that's cool and then never show any intent of buying one.
It's a fun gadget that's awesome to play around with, that doesn't mean its picking up additional traction. In fact a lot of people that own one say its gathering dust.

Registered 14 years agoThat's the problem with it. Most people feel queasy on their first go. Put's them off using it again, despite being told it gets better. -

Registered 16 years agoIf Nintendo are finally jumping on the bandwagon that's pretty much a sign that this iteration of the VR fad is coming to an end.
Thoroughly unpleasant user experiences aside, the quality of the average VR game ensured that end of year worst games lists were dominated by VR titles. -

On the other hand, I've never known a game to unite a room like Beat Saber. Gamers and non-gamers, 10 year olds to 70 year olds, and any mix thereof. Quest, and what comes after it in that market, seems to be something that will hang around for another few generations. Index, if supported by decent (read Valve-quality) software also has a few iterations before the jury come back in.

Registered 9 years agoBeat saber is the beacon of vr gaming and deservedly so. There aren't enough games in that top quality bracket though as tech issues plague so many games. -

Registered 15 years agoIt’s normal. See thousands of years and millions of people getting used to sea sickness. -

Registered 16 years agoSea sickness is incredibly mild in comparison to the sort of nausea and discomfort games can cause. Half an hour of Metroid Prime could make me feel ill for hours after the Gamecube had been switched off.
The difference is that you can't 'switch off' the boat** so you're more likely to lose the contents of your stomach.
**I suppose you have the option of throwing yourself into the sea, but I've seen Jaws too many times to consider that. -

No worries! I've bumped it up the category list, too. -
@craigy you're a star
