I will need a new graphics card, right? Trade up my 1070 for a 2070?

@Technoishmatt The recommended specs for occulus is a 970 so I think you should be fine.

@Technoishmatt I think you would be able to just buy an expansion slot for your pc rather than a new card.

Yeah, it isnít a VirtualLink connection, the one which punts data and DisplayPort video down a usb-C connection, it still compresses and decompressed the video. Shame as I have a 2080 that supports it! Maybe next generation, Iíd pay extra for one with that hardware in.

Wonder how much it will actually improve latency, the wireless latency is a very small part of the total latency according to ALVR and itís compressing and decompressing the video that takes the time.

I think latency will be just fine, if you see what the snapdragon 835 has to deal with now, processing data from 4 cameras, the imuís, even compressing and streaming to a chromecast, and running the game at 72 fps, it seems to pull all that off just fine.

With the usb-c all it has to do is send the data from the 4 cameras to the pc, and decompress the video it will get back from the pc, which I think will be a much lighter workload.

I do worry that now it will have a constant power supply, they might decide to run the snapdragon and cooling at full pelt, because battery life is not longer a consideration. I think it might run quite hot, and it is already one of the least comfortable headsets to wear.

Doubt they would do that for overheating concerns

Well maybe not full pelt, but at least running at higher clockspeed than it does now.
Like how the nintendo switch clocks up docked versus undocked.

Now that the dust has settled on OC6 my feeling is that Oculus massively exceeded my expectations on new technology features (Link, hand tracking, and the new guardian thing) but didn't meet my expectations for new games.

Is that what others are feeling?

For quest specific games, I guess so, but the link goes some way to mitigating that - if you have a PC. Quite looking forward to ditching my lighthouse boxes altogether and using the quest for my driving sims now

No idea, it's responsible for the surge in broken controller/tv posts on reddit too.

New firmware is out, it adds passthrough+.
You still can't pull it up on demand, but now everything is perspective correct, so stuff looks less distorted and more like it does in real life. Not groundbreaking by any means, but it is noticeable.

Roadtovr and uploadvr are the two I use.

I get the feeling they both over rate games but gives you an idea tbh.

I had rift s and found it comfortable but when they announced the oculus link for quest I took the rift s back to get it. The oculus quest has some compromises but I'm finding that the comfort is a big issue. I've seen some mods with the HTC deluxe audio strap but don't fancy laying down another £100+ on it has anyone here tried any DIY mods or cheaper straps/headbands?

Half an hour of that and i'm ready to hit the floor literally.

I got the V10 firmware and can cast to my TV's built-in Chromecast at last. Yay!

I'm playing through Moss, it really is a lovely game.
