    Meh I watched Robcop at 10 😀.

It's an excuse to give them a small go and get for ourselves god damn it. Also at egx load for younger people were playing it

Are the controllers better than the psvr ones?
Yes and the tracking is far better.

I think I’ve said it before on here, but the Quest is the “good enough” point for me with VR. Sure, the graphics can be a bit shonky but setup is “put the headset on and trace a line” and it works in 360 degrees. I let a friend try it and he immediately went and bought a VR system of his own. I really hope that the next iteration of the PSVR system works more like this because I had games like Blood and Truth ruined by duff tracking and I don’t have the room for an Index style lighthouse tracking system.

Edit: and don’t get me wrong - some games like Robo Recall and Red Matter can look pretty dank good because of the solidity of everything.

    :)

It's more out of protection for developing eyes than the content. Also the small heads might be hard to get a good picture sometimes. Research is sparse and if it's mostly for yourselves then it probably isn't a problem. I was just flinging it out there in case people didn't know.

thanks. Yeah I knew from the day I gave my boy a go on the psvr shark thing. That was all he was getting

So pistol whip is pretty fucking cool. God damn it's sweaty work with the quest though. Bloody roasting.

That's my biggest gripe with the quest, it's less comfortable than the rift.

    @Fake_Blood

Since I messed with the straps somewhat it feels a lot better now. I've just piled through about 10 songs on beat saber without feeling like my cheekbones were getting crushed so it's all good!

I'm really tempted to buy a Rift, mainly for iRacing but also messing around on some of the other experiences.

What's putting me off is my general paranoia around some of the stuff online to do with eye strain and/or potential brain issues. The tech is so new I guess we just don't know at this stage and you can't really limit use to short bursts with sim racing.
  • Deleted user 8 November 2019 09:10:55
What's the potential brain issues? I don't see why it's any different to your brain adapting to being in a moving vehicle or similar.

EG did an article a few months back. Some people claiming it causes memory loss and can lead to dementia. Evidence was on mice
  • Deleted user 8 November 2019 11:51:38
Probably explains why I'm so dozy.

Funny, I would have thought the opposite because your brain has to actively learn about a new environment.

As an Index owner I can confirm the memory loss, especially when it comes to money already spend on VR.

It was more to do with how the image is created, it "tricks" your brain in to perceiving depth and space in a certain way which is different to real life. It's all theory and speculation but this is one of the reasons they don't reccomend kids to use too much, in case it confuses the brain so it starts to treat real life like VR.

None of it has much evidence behind it which is why I called it my paranoia. But equally it's early days for the tech so who knows.

Tried Pisol Whip. Bit bloody tough isn't it! I like to think I'm pretty good at rhythm games but this will require some practice.

    @uiruki

Yep. I started on easy and whilst it was easy you could quite easily fail. Normal is tough.

Played a beta of eleven table tennis last night. You can request access via the devs discord channel. It's obviously buggy but it plays really well. The physics seem spot on. That leads me to my next question. Has anyone played the other TT game that's been out for a while "Racket Fury"?
  • Deleted user 9 November 2019 11:54:44
Yeah I didn't really like it, the physics seems strange and the ball seems almost like it's updating separately to the rest of the world. Some people seem to like it though.

Anyone tried the Half-Life quest mod yet? People keep talking about it over on reddit. I haven’t messed with the sidequest side-loading app yet.
  • Deleted user 9 November 2019 15:09:25
Yeah it's quite good but you can tell it's not designed for VR.

It’s a great demo of how you can take a game like that across and I really like the feel of the pistol but I think Quake is a little better.

Ordered a case and earbuds for my quest which arrived yesterday.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07TYYP62B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_DaDXDb4XZNV26

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07SVVMK4N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_lbDXDbMBVT0A2

Both excellent and a cheaper option than buying both official branded equivalents.

Thrill of the Fight is very visceral! I started it last night and did the first 3 fights. I'm very very aware of having arms this morning!

Bought gunclub. That's great fun. Has anyone tried the virtual desktop software. I wanted to try and see if I could use the quest for my steamVR games.

I've been thinking about getting an Oculus Rift S for some time now mainly for Stormland (out today) and Asgards Wrath. My PC is i7-7700k RTX 2080ti 16gb ram. Will I have a good experience with this set up?

As good as is possible. That's an expensive PC, have you considered Valve's Index?

If you have money, that one is usually the one to recommend. Rift S is solid too, and has tracking built in, and is cheap.
