That being said theres an Assassin Creed and Splinter Cell games coming that I think are PC only but it's not been confirmed. Take my advice, do not Drunken Bar Fight and give the headset to a child, or in fact anyone. My newphew was swinging around like a mental case and broke a controller, and they're pretty hard to break! You want to be getting Job or Vacation Simulator and Beat Saber as your first two purchases IMO Edited by INSOMANiAC at 13:38:38 29-10-2020 |

Well, let's put it another way, most of the financially successful, best known VR games have been ported. Outside of Half Life Alyx and possibly boneworks (which seems to be getting a Quest version) the most well known non PSVR games are probably Beat Saber, Superhot, Tetris Effect

And to be fair the ports have been downgraded (sometimes significantly) to run on the Quests. For the most part it's fine, but playing something on Quest then playing the same game using Link from a PC is night and day on a few games, such as Walking Dead. But then there's the whole wireless argument etc etc.

I wouldnt count games that have it shoehorned in, Alien isolation doesnt even officially support VR and neither does No Mans Sky any more. Walking dead is out on Quest. So is Moss.

Registered 13 years ago@cov Because Alien isolation is only playable in VR by editing shit, it wasn't an official VR game, by that reckoning you could add a shit ton of games on steam that can be technically half-arsed played in VR. -

Registered 12 years agoThere’s also a couple shoehorned games like Half-Life that you can play via side quest, what’s the point being made here? -

Registered 5 years agoHalf arsed is a bit much as well. Alien Isolation is transformative in VR, for a fan made mod it works insanely well and the entire game is playable. Likewise something like Squadrons where optional official VR is arguably the definitive experience. -

My original point was that most (clearly not all) of the best known, best selling VR games have made their way Quest. Obviously people then started naming the ones that haven't, as if I'm some kind of simpleton.

Registered 18 years agoYour original point was that most of what are considered the best vr games had been ported to the quest which was patently an exaggeration that raised an eyebrow and you doubled down
which I quite admired actually -

Registered 20 years agoI wasn't trying to give you any grief, it's just that my favourite VR games have mostly not been Quest games. My personal best VR games have been:
Beat Saber
VTOL VR
Resident Evil 7
Driveclub VR
Rigs
Playroom VR
Half Life Alyx
... and probably others I'm forgetting. -

Registered 13 years agoMassive upgrade on the Quest 2 being rolled out, 90hz on supported games, fitness tracker etc. Oculus link is also getting the 90hz mode. Some people already have the update, I don't but you can install the firmware yourself if you are so inclined. -

Registered 13 years ago@HoriZon Did you change to 90hz in the PC app, as it's still on 72 by default when using Link. It's not very intuitive to find, you need to go to settings, devices and click on the Oculus Quest and Touch. -

Registered 6 years agoSold my PSVR last week and my Oculus Quest 2 is being delivered today. I loved my PSVR and some of the games (Astrobot especially) have been amongst the best gaming experiences I've ever had. However it was getting limited use, mainly due to the wires/Moves not being the best experience and I did find the tracking really poor, often spoiling the experience with constant pausing and resetting the tracking.
So - any suggestions for any non-PSVR titles to get me started? I'm going to get Pistol Whip as I didn't have that for the PSVR, but anything else anyone would recommend? I won't be tethering as I have an iMac so it will be headset only.
Cheers -

Registered 11 years ago@papalazar0u you can tether to an iMac if you run boot camp. I’ve done it a few times to play a few flight sims. It’s ok, but even a pretty top-spec iMac means you have to turn the graphics down a fair bit to get smooth gameplay. -

@papalazar0u you and me both - I’ve got a 2017 top-spec one and it’s not uber fast because it has no SSD. I’ve been quoted £450 to supply and fit one which would transform it... but by the time I get around to it the Apple Silicon ones will hopefully be out. Fingers crossed Apple does wonders with the GPU and, erm, finds a way to let boot camp work!
