Couldn't find an existing thread, but guessing one wasn't made around the first one was shown? (it wasn't great anyway, unless you are into PSVR). Next show is in two hours (11pm) and the show supposedly only lasts 10 mins. Following stuff that will be shown: - MediEvil RemakeIt's been rumoured that the last part is to do with FFVII Remake, but we shall see... Edited by FrostPan at 21:07:25 09-05-2019 |

I honestly never heard of that title. But looking that up now, it would be interesting if that turned out to be the game to be re-revealed. -
@FrostPan I vaguely remember it at the PS4 reveal at E3. -

Registered 12 years agoI've always been of the opinion that it never needed a remake, and... I dunno. I still kind of think that. It certainly looked very nice, though. -

That's fair enough, I hope you enjoy it. I'm sure I will too - I guess I just have a lot wrapped up in the original game.

Registered 3 years ago@Ror yeh I totally get that, nothing will happen to the original but you will always have that. Either way a big new shiny final fantasy is exciting! Looks like number 16 will be next gen! -

I couldn't give a fuck anymore to be honest. It'll be another 3 years before anything is released. -

Registered 9 years agoJudging by the battle systems in the FF games since X and the look of that trailer, this could well be appalling.
Hope not of course. -

I actually think the game is actually further along in development than most expected. Both Japanese and English versions of the teaser trailer are evenly lip synced, plus there's this tidbit from the official Facebook page:
Most of the plans are already in place in the run up to launch, so please bear with us a little longer until we can release more information next month – Tetsuya Nomura

Registered 14 years agoI actually liked FF15 a lot. But this remake is being made by Cyber Connect, developers of the single worst action RPG in history (.hack//Link). I can't be optimistic until I play this for myself.
Edit: just read they shifted development to an in-house team two years ago. That makes me hopeful again.

Registered 14 years ago@FrostPan I thought it was weird that, despite saying we are in the "run up to launch", they keep only showing bits from the intro section (been made sure Tifa wouldn't be visible on the trailer despite being in battle), but then I remembered that Squenix said this was supposed to be an episodic release.
Not sure if they are still planning to do that, especially after the FF15 DLC failed to do the business. But either way, it's possible that they only have the Midgar section ready, and they will release it as FF7R: Episode 1.
If that were the case, I wonder how long it would be between each episode... and how many of them we'd get.

Registered 12 years agoThere's also a PS5 on the horizon. Is it going to be a launch game or are they going to do the cross-gen silliness? There's no way some of the episodes don't bleed significantly into the PS5's lifespan.
I just don't trust them to get the episodes released within a reasonably close window of time that makes the whole package a worthwhile experience. It's going to make Telltale look like they were getting episodes out weekly in comparison. -

They previously mentioned years back that they are aiming each installment to be full sized games, using FFXIII trilogy as an example. They later on stated that they are planning to expand and include areas for the remake that weren't in the original game.
Based on both info, I reckon the first installment will at the very least cover the whole of Midgar (with expanded/new areas), and it will come out late 2019/Spring 2020.
Worth noting, both official FF Twitter and Facebook pages now have FF7 backgrounds/profile icon, so Square's main focus is FF7 it seems.
Edit: interestingly the teaser trailer showed the water sewer boss, which you fought that much later from the intro in the original game. So I think we will see more later Midgar stuff next month.

They definitely mentioned they don't want to do that at all. Hence the multi release plan.

Registered 2 years agoThe graphics and art direction look great, but I found the voice acting pretty grating. They really need high calibre voice actors to live up to years of these characters speaking in our heads.
The gameplay also looks worrying but I'll hold judgement until we know more. I haven't really enjoyed a FF battle system since XII, but I did enjoy XV in spite of not particularly getting on with the battles, because it was easy enough to just button bash through them - it did mean I ignored all the endgame stuff that I'd normally play through though. -

Registered 8 years agoLooks like battle actions correspond to face buttons. I really enjoyed XC2 combat and if it is a version of that i'm ok. FF7 is pretty much press X to win anyway, so few battles require strategy. If they used a stagger system where you have to break enemies i'd be pretty happy. -

Registered 5 years agoWhat have they done to Aeris voice? It's that American baby girl voice you get in a lot of jrpgs. It sounds so out of place it's jarring. Other than that, it looked great. -

As for XVI, someone on... I think it was Resetera, did some digging a while back and realised that a number of FFXIV leads had moved on from that project since the Heavensward expansion and hadn't been heard from since. They are still with the company though, so the prevailing theory is that they have been doing pre-production on XVI. I absolutely love XIV's world, so I'd be very excited if that's the case. -

Don't put any money on that prediction, because yeah, they definitely don't want to sell any more ps4 consoles.
I’m going to go ahead and predict PS5 will be released this Christmas with the Last of Us and Cyberpunk.
No showing at e3 and such poor State of Plays say to me that Sony are purposely making people get bored of the PS4.
