| Surprised at the hate for Brassic. Some bits misfire but generally I thought it was a lot of fun. If you're not at least semi into it after the 1st episode though nothing later will change your mind. |

Registered 18 years agoI'm enjoying Brassic so far - it's not the best thing ever, but a decent enough watch. Some amusing moments. -

If you're not watching this show, then you're doing life incorrectly.
It's the funniest show I've seen for years. -

I'm totally hooked on this show. Being so invested in a collection of morally bankrupt people is one hell of an achievement by the makers.

And just when you think it can't get any better, they bring in Holly Hunter who elevates it even further.
Likely to be my show of the year. -

Registered 10 years agoI'm late to the party with Succession myself - it is really good. I'm only halfway through the first season so have a fair bit to look forward to.
I missed it until now because I was trying to focus on Billions (thinking there was only room in my life for one drama about the super rich at a time), but I think I'm going to have to bail on that one. Midway through season three I just started losing the thread of what was going on. I'm not sure if that's my fault or the series'. -

I think Billions peaked at the end of season 2 and now it's struggling to maintain the same sense of drama. I think that was always going to happen when the main dynamic was effectively broken and they had to introduce new and frankly less interesting threats into the narrative.

I think if you can't tolerate dramas about super-rich New Yorkers, it's best to give HBO and Showtime a wide berth. -

Registered 12 years agoYeah, hands down show of the year so far for me. As you say every character is utterly corrupt, the writing is the best I've seen for a long time and the audience is treated with huge respect. Some viewers won't get all the business bullshit lingo, but they leave just enough of a breadcrumb trail to keep them in the loop too, forgive the pun.
That's sharp and clever AF -

Registered 10 years agoNot long before Watchmen starts. The trailer doing the rounds at the moment is a bit busy and doesn't really do it many favours, but I've got it on good authority that it's looking good. I'm really excited about it.
But then I also really enjoyed Umbrella Academy and The Boys so I'm clearly a mark for masks. -

Registered 9 years agoSuccession is amazing. It's so hard to find someone to root for in it, you start to think oh maybe they arent the worst of the bunch and then they go and out-cunt themselves and it's back to square one. -

I wonder if Succession has an overall story arc? The extinction of the old media dinosaurs? -

He got caught out by a financial scam and lost a shitload of money. That “seven degrees of Kevin Bacon” thing that led to the EE gig probably saved his career.

Edit: Sorry, Six Degrees. I always get that wrong.

Registered 11 years agoSuccession is fantastic. I'm on Ep4 of S2 and I just realised it's not only one of the most compelling and all-round well made shows I've seen, it's hilarious. (Also terrifying.... And relatable despite the elites setting).
The theme tune is now a Pavlovian cue to smile in anticipation. -

Registered 9 years agoI've just done that as I wanted the missus to catch up. Was just as good on a second viewing as you notice things that you missed first time through, especially in the early episodes. -
I just stuffed myself with crisps and ice cream and I'm rewatching Chernobyl. Forgot how good. -
Another vote for Rome - especially the first season.
For HBO I'd also recommend Deadwood.
