@GuybrushFreepwood hey, what was the place called in Leeds that you went to?
Ultralase. They were the best around by a long way. Couldn’t fault them and I looked up the background of the surgeon who did my procedure beforehand. They are more expensive than most, but I wasn’t about to scrimp on my eyesight.

A friend of mine had it and told me he basically could not see for three days after the bandages came off. Only then did his vision gradually return.

I think that screwed me up and made me too petrified to take it further
Was this some time ago? Because there were no bandages for me, and I assume most here. You're light sensitive for a few days so you stay indoors, do nothing strenuous for your eyes and wear sunglasses, and apply drops for a week. I had a next day, 3 day and 1 week check up (supposed to have a 1 month too but I was back in Sweden at that point and was cleared after the week so didn't see the need).

@Derblington Had mine done 19 years ago and didn't have bandages. Both done at the same time and able to walk home.

I’m booking in to have this sometime this month. I’m looking forward to being able to buy regular sunglasses.

As well as being able to see and all that.

I didn't have any bandages. Could have walked home but I forgot my sunglasses so had to get an Uber. I was told I could go back to work the next day, but I took a couple of days off. My vision was nearly perfect the next day but I had quite badly bloodshot eyes for about a week. Had to do drops for a month.

I really can't emphasise enough how much I love it. I've had to wear glasses/lenses pretty much all day every day since I was 7. It is a complete game changer.

Aye, I think I was 12 when I got glasses, and contacts at 16. 27 when I had surgery and it's a massive improvement for everyday life.
Waking up in the morning and just being able to see is wonderful. Getting in late and not having to stick your fingers in your eyes before bed or staying out overnight without pre-planning, swimming and sports. It's huge.

I had laser eye surgery about 5 years ago at a cost of £5000. Now I can see who I'm having sex with.
Is that a pro or a con?

@DaM I thought my control was getting good. My HA1BC tests ten years ago were in the one hundred and twenties. It turned out I was on an entirely wrong insulin regime I found out three or four years ago. My last four results have been in the mid sixties. My target is currently fifty nine. But the consultant said that was still quite high and I need to get it into the low fifties.
