New fantasy action-adventure by From Software, with world design done by George R.R. Martin, revealed in a leak from Bandai Namco ahead of E3. Nothing else known at this time - no screenshots included in the leak, just the info above and what looks like some sample box-art. Probably a pretty safe bet that it's going to be some kind of bastard love-child of Dark Souls and Song of Ice and Fire, though. From the lack of details in the leak (compared to the more extensive details on Tales of Arise), I'm not expecting this to release any time soon. |

I think we're both hoping it's "not Sekiro". -

Registered 14 years agoI also hope it's back to Souls style, as I'm too old and shit for Sekiro's pace. -

Registered 11 years agoBe nice if it took a bit of a older twist, like the mythological settings in Demon's. Not that I harp on about Demon's or anything. -

Demon's was quality, I'm with you on that 👍
How about the King's Field games too, what sort of setting did they go with for those quad? Speaking of which, I do rather like the idea of a From developed game similar-ish to aspects of an Elder Scrolls title. At the very least it would be markedly different from their recent work whilst harking back to some of their oldest titles, though I'm not sure From's subsequent and intricately crafted third person combat could be suitably adapted to a first person perspective. -

I still have a kings field game on the ps2. Or ps1. Can't remember. Medieval setting, but I can't really give you much more information than that, as the control method is/was absolutely woeful. I ended up just falling off things. No, wait...

Registered 14 years agoFrom Software already gave us a game with Rings in the title, and it sucked. To be fair though, pre-Miyazaki From made some ridiculous design decisions. -

Would it also feature vehicle sections like on a horse and cart or a boat or like a stone age motorbike and gliders? I hope so

I can guarantee this will be the game that will end From Software's hot streak. -

Registered 12 years agoWe need the game to be sort of like the Elder Scrolls, sort of like Lord of the Rings. What shall we call it?
... "Elden Ring"? -

I share the same foreboding. From needs no help with world building and excessive dialogue is not their way. Plus his last two books were shite -

Registered 17 years agoI cannot see how this collaboration will benefit the game. GRRM's strong suit is complex character building, with twists and turns, double-or-triple-crossings, intrigues, plotting and scheming. FROM games so far didn't have (or needed) that.
I want to know more to fully pledge myself, but I'm interested anyway, as I love FROM games - yes, even Sekiro, which I suck at... -
Could be that From want to do something quite different -

Which is why there is this thing called e3, that happens once a year when these kind of things are properly announced. As apposed to when we get these attention seeking, me first brigade “journalist/influencer” twats who feel the need to leak broken bits of the news early.
You are in luck as it happens as e3 is the next coming days!!! And you may even hear the news later today.
Sorry for the extreme sarcasm, first post of the day and all that.
