Very early days, but rather enjoying this so far. One thing that has surprised me are the controls. They're not the same as Luigi's Mansion 2. I mean the actions are, but the buttons have all moved to accommodate the new actions and I'm not sure if I like it. I prefer using the shoulder buttons to aim up and down. Using the right analog stick is confusing.

You can change the controls in settings to be less analogue on the stick and more direction based and then tilt the switch to raise and lower your nozzle.

Had to change it for my youngest (5) and he's found it much easier to play although I think it's much more difficult

Cheers for that. I'll give it a go and see if that's any better. I think it's more having the right stick rotate Luigi like a tank that is breaking my brain at the moment.

@DangerousDave_87 It's night and day, IMHO. The alt controls give it twin-stick shooter style controls and are soooo much better. I really wasn't enjoying the game until I discovered them.

It certainly does play a lot better with that change to the controls! I've completely ditched having to use the right analog stick at all. The aiming is instinctive now.

Having Luigi rotate like a tank is really not a good idea. It makes the game feel very clumsy. I'm glad there's a fix. Cheers, folks!

Finished this tonight. It feels a bit overcooked. There's a bit of backtracking. Some of the bosses were irritating, despite not being overly difficult. Best feature was the co-op which worked well with my youngest son, as playing Gooigi is forgiving and he was actually a great help. Overall, about a 7.5/10 for me.

In a weird way I don't think there's enough backtracking. So far, every floor gradually reveals itself in a linear fashion. There's nothing locked off that you need to come back to later, or some clue or item that might help you access a new area on another floor. It's not Super Metroid enough for my liking!

I know I'll be alone on this one, but I prefer the single mission set up of Luigi's Mansion 2. I am still very much enjoying this, however. It's been very chill so far and hunting the gems is as satisfying as it ever was.

I've just completed the film set floor. Soooooo many film references in there. That was a fantastic floor!

@Graxlar_v3 I genuinely considered not being a heartless monster, but my completionist side made me do it!

Finally finished this, last few floors seemed a bit rushed - but if they were as long as some of the previous floors it would have dragged the game out too long.

Fantastic game and a massive improvement on dark moon from the same devs

Right, installed on the Switch and loaded it up to check it doesn't moan for updates. That's Friday's flight sorted.

Mate, the game is fantastic. It drags at the end but those last few floors are short

It's fantastic, I'd love my to play it with my daughter in 3 or 4 years. Assuming she will enjoy games of course.

I'm on Floor 12 now, I think. I've enjoyed it a lot, but I definitely prefer the second game. The puzzle elements seem weaker overall and with the floors being so individual, the exploration is less rewarding too.

The bosses are certainly better, however. So far anyway!

11 or 12 is where fatigue set in for me, itís a short right though. Could imagine elements of levels where used to extent the length to appease the teenage obsession with game length.

Me and my 5 year old (who has been gaming for about a month and until LM3 was strictly 2D platformers such as Mario Bros) are sailing through it, great fun.

He's Luigi and I'm Gooigi, which works well as he gets to trigger most of the events but I can step in and defeat ghosts when needs be. Any hearts I collect go straight to him as well, somebody has really given co-op some thought.

Another good thing doing it that way is that Gooigi (so me) often has to do tricky sections on his own, but there is very little that Luigi has to do solo.

We'd love to play through Mario Odyssey too but not sure if co-op (with him as Mario) would work quite as well.

It's all rosy until the boiler room boss. He can do one.

Started on the plane yesterday. Not immediately sold on it. Feels quite slow paced and the controls arenít particularly intuitive.

@Rogueywon There's an alternative control option that changes how the right stick works. I much prefer that set up. Give it a go!

I can't stand the alt controls. I much prefer the tank ones with the tilt. Movie set puzzle took a few minutes to work out but the fucking kitten thing was annoying.
